Job summary

Woodgrain is seeking a Technical Sales Manager for the Central Region to act as an internal expert for Siding & Trim and Outdoor Living product lines. You will work with Outside Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain while coordinating with vendors to ensure proper specification and installation in the field.

You will provide hands-on training, marketing support, and field evaluations to strengthen brand loyalty, drive sales growth, and enhance customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree is preferred but not a prerequisite.
• Relevant experience of at least 3-5 years, unless currently in another role within our organization.

Responsibilities

• Field resource for Exterior product lines represented by Woodgrain.
• Maintain a detailed pipeline with RSM; communicate opportunities and follow-ups.
• Conduct on-site product training, installation demonstrations, and contractor workshops.
• Coordinate large projects with vendors and Woodgrain OSR teams in the region.
• Provide technical and installation support to builders, contractors, distributors, and sales reps.
• Perform jobsite inspections and field assessments with vendor teams to ensure standards.

PRIMARY ROLE

Position Summary

The Technical Sales Manager position serves as an internal expert for Woodgrain's Siding & Trim and Outdoor Living product lines. This role partners closely with our Outside Sales Team, Marketing department, Supply Chain, and National Accounts division while acting as an extension of our key vendors, to support customers and contractors throughout the assigned geographical footprint. This role works in collaboration with vendors to ensure their products are effectively communicated, properly specified, and correctly installed in the field. This role provides hands‑on training, marketing support, jobsite evaluations, and product demonstrations to strengthen brand loyalty, drive sales growth and enhance overall customer satisfaction.

JOB EXPECTATIONS

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

• Field resource for our Exterior product lines that Woodgrain represents.
• Work alongside RSM to maintain a detailed pipeline, communicating opportunities, sales call notes, and customer follow-ups.
• Conduct on‑site product training sessions, installation demonstrations, and contractor workshops with Vendor representative and Woodgrain OSR's.
• Work in Vendor/Woodgrain OSR teams to identify, quote and coordinate large projects in the region.
• Works with local leadership and supply chain to ensure we have the proper breadth and depth of inventory to grow the category.
• Provide technical and installation support to builders, contractors, distributors, and sales representatives.
• Coordinating with vendor’s Quality teams, perform jobsite inspections and field assessments to ensure product installations meet standards.
• Support the sales team by assisting in development of marketing materials, product launches and regional events.
• Collect and communicate field feedback to inform product development and marketing efforts.
• Promote Woodgrain and our vendor partners brand image and best practices at every customer touchpoint.

Key Qualifications:

• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in construction, building materials, or exterior systems.
• Understanding of different types of siding materials, their installation processes and how they work with the overall house build.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage both contractors and distributors.
• Proficiency in reading blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings.
• Preferred knowledge of local building codes and any professional building certifications.
• Skilled at troubleshooting field issues and providing practical solutions.

Other Skills and Abilities:

• Candidate should have above average skills in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. They should have excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Attention to detail a must. Outside sales reps must have time management skills, be self‑motivated, be able to build relationships, and always maintain a positive attitude. Customer facing roles require maintaining a professional appearance and representing the company positively to the public is required.
