Technical Sales Engineer - Particle Reduction

This is a REMOTE position, with the condition that candidates reside near a major airport.

Overview:

A global manufacturer of industrial processing systems is hiring a Technical Sales Engineer to support the growth of its particle size reduction equipment line across North and South America. The role involves consultative technical sales of capital equipment such as hammermills, crushers, lump breakers, and shredders, used in industries like chemical, food processing, biomass, and minerals. Candidates must be comfortable managing complex sales cycles and working hands-on with application teams and customer testing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop deep knowledge of the company’s size reduction product lines and applications.
  2. Translate technical capabilities into customer-facing solutions and proposals.
  3. Lead responses to RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs.
  4. Collaborate with field sales reps to identify, qualify, and pursue opportunities.
  5. Travel to customer sites for presentations, demos, training, and support.
  6. Coordinate with testing and engineering teams for customer trials and protocols.
  7. Support the design of custom solutions aligned with customer needs.
  8. Maintain detailed CRM records of activity, quotes, and correspondence.
  9. Troubleshoot customer issues and ensure resolutions.
  10. Participate in planning, forecasting, and process improvements.
  11. Engage in internal knowledge-sharing and collaboration.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Mechanical Engineering preferred); business coursework or MBA a plus.
  • 10+ years’ experience in technical sales, capital equipment, or process systems.
  • Background in selling/supporting particle or size reduction equipment (e.g., hammermills, crushers, pulverizers, shredders).
  • Familiarity with applications in chemicals, biomass, food, minerals, or industrial feedstock.
  • Proven success managing complex sales cycles and customer relationships.
  • Ability to work independently remotely and travel up to 60%.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
