Overview
DirtPrep provides precision earthmoving technology and support, specializing in GPS-enabled machine control systems for construction and heavy civil projects. As a Technical Sales Engineer, you will blend mechanical know-how with digital expertise to help clients adopt and maximize DirtPrep’s solutions. This role requires regional travel to customer sites, delivering both sales and technical support to ensure client success.
Responsibilities
- Sales & Business Development
- Identify, pursue, and close new opportunities for GPS machine control systems, modeling services, and related support.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships with contractors, operators, and project managers.
- Technical Consultation
- Assess customer needs for GPS site positioning and machine control solutions.
- Recommend tailored 2D/3D solutions that improve accuracy, reduce rework, and accelerate project timelines.
- Demonstrations & Training
- Deliver on-site product demonstrations for equipment such as dozers, graders, and excavators.
- Provide hands-on training for operators and field staff on Leica iCON and related systems.
- Implementation & Support
- Oversee installation and initial setup of machine control and GPS systems.
- Provide ongoing customer support, troubleshooting, and remote connectivity assistance using ConX or similar platforms.
- Collaboration & Feedback
- Work closely with engineering and modeling teams to build accurate 3D models and project takeoffs.
- Communicate customer feedback and industry trends to internal teams to inform product and service improvements.
- Travel
- Regular regional travel (primarily California and Nevada) to client sites for demos, installations, and support.
Qualifications
- Strong mechanical understanding of heavy equipment such as dozers, graders, and excavators.
- Technical experience with GPS machine control, 2D/3D site positioning, or related modeling systems.
- Proven success in technical or solution-based sales, ideally in construction or civil engineering industries.
- Ability to explain complex systems clearly and train end users with confidence.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
- Willingness to travel frequently within the assigned territory.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Geomatics, or equivalent experience.
