Cable Components Group LLC, part of Marmon Holdings, is seeking a Field Engineer in Connecticut to serve as the technical interface with customers, providing expertise in polymer materials, plastics processing, and application development.

You will troubleshoot processing issues, support qualification of new materials, and work with engineering, operations, sales, and quality teams to implement new technologies. Travel up to 50% across North America is expected for visits, trials, and training.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of technical sales engineering experience.
• Strong understanding of polymer science, plastics engineering, and material characterization.
• Knowledge of polymer processing technologies including extrusion, compounding, and wire & cable manufacturing.
• Experience troubleshooting manufacturing and product performance issues.
• Ability to travel 50% across North America to support customer visits and field activities.

Cable Components Group, LLC (CCG) is a leading provider of components and compounds for the wire & cable and optical fiber industries, as well as yarn and nonwovens for high- temperature filtration, textiles and other uses. With 25 extrusion lines and four compounding lines, CCG growth can be attributed to its ability to produce crosswebs, tubes, insulation, jacketing and other materials. CCG holds 26 patents and five registered trademarks.

Salary Range: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 (Depends on industry specific and overall years of experience)

Key Responsibilities in the Role

• Develop a strong understanding of polymer and plastic materials, including material selection, formulation, processing, and end‑use performance.
• Provide technical support to customers by troubleshooting processing, manufacturing, and product performance issues related to polymer compounds and cable materials.
• Collaborate with customers to identify root causes of material and processing challenges and implement effective corrective actions.
• Support qualification and commercialization of new materials through plant trials, process optimization, small‑scale wire extrusion trials, and performance evaluations.
• Assist customers with extrusion, compounding, and cable manufacturing processes to improve productivity, quality, and product consistency.
• Evaluate field performance data and customer feedback to drive continuous improvement and new product development initiatives.
• Work closely with engineering, operations, sales, and quality teams to ensure successful implementation of new technologies and products.
• Conduct on‑site customer visits, technical presentations, and training sessions related to material performance, processing, and application development.
• Provide recommendations on material selection, processing conditions, and product design based on application requirements and industry standards.
• Prepare technical reports documenting trial results, troubleshooting activities, customer interactions, and recommendations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Polymer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of Technical Sales Engineering Experience.
• Strong understanding of polymer science, plastics engineering, and material characterization.
• Knowledge of polymer processing technologies including extrusion, compounding, and wire & cable manufacturing.
• Experience troubleshooting manufacturing and product performance issues.
• Ability to analyze technical data and identify root causes of material and process‑related problems.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to customers and cross‑functional teams.
• Familiarity with fluoropolymers, HFFR compounds, polyolefins, engineering thermoplastics, and thermoset materials is preferred.
• Understanding of wire and cable industry standards and applications is an asset.
• Ability and willingness to travel 50% of the time throughout North America, including the United States, Canada, and Mexico, to support customer visits, technical troubleshooting, product trials, and business development activities.
