GENERAL PURPOSE

The Sales Engineer is a technical resource providing product and solution expertise. They support Tier One-Three Customers, Distribution, End Users, Consultants, and National Account Managers by addressing technical needs and optimizing products/solutions for strategic customers. The role involves collaboration with Product Management and Customers, and partnership with multiple sales teams across DE, CT, MA, ME, NH, NJ, NY, RI, and VT.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Possess deep technical knowledge of Legrand AV Commercial Brands including C2G, Chief, ConnecTRAC, Da-Lite, Luxul, Middle Atlantic, Vaddio, and Wiremold.
  2. Support multiple state sales teams within the region.
  3. Assist account managers by providing product/solution expertise for specific accounts.
  4. Collaborate with account management on solution implementation and resolving customer issues.
  5. Educate integrators on new products and solutions to optimize customer value.
  6. Onboard and train new strategic integrators.
  7. Monitor and track solutions/applications within customer accounts, identifying opportunities for improvement and expansion.
  8. Promote new products to internal and external customers through calls, trade shows, and showcases.
  9. Support product launches by conducting training and developing promotional strategies.
  10. Engage with customers and internal teams to identify business opportunities.
  11. Articulate the vision for new products, emphasizing customer value and technological advantages.
  12. Prioritize product opportunities based on market trends to influence development.
  13. Research competitors and develop strategies to increase market share.

Job Requirements

Skills & Competencies:

  1. Deep understanding of Legrand product/solution technologies.
  2. Knowledgeable about products and capable of customer education.
  3. Proficient in diagnosing and resolving issues.
  4. Ability to make effective recommendations based on judgment and standards.
  5. Customer-focused and responsive.
  6. Team-oriented with resource leveraging skills.
  7. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  8. Strong interpersonal skills.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in sales, marketing, engineering, or related technical field with at least five (5) years of technical sales experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with regional markets.
  • Location preference: DE, CT, MA, ME, NH, NJ, NY, RI, VT.
  • Proximity to major airports.
  • Experience with Salesforce.com CRM is a plus.
  • Relevant experience with the technology area.
  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree.
  • Interest in innovative approaches like Design Thinking.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

  1. Data entry requires coordinated finger movements.
  2. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  3. Work in a home office and field sales environment.
  4. Regular travel to customer sites; up to 50% travel including air travel.
