Job summary

BDO USA is seeking a Technical Revenue Accountant to support government services accounting and financial reporting under U.S. GAAP. The role analyzes complex transactions, applies ASC 606, and documents conclusions with ERP system experience.

The position requires 5+ years of accounting, a Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance, and strong Excel skills. CPA preferred; experience in a professional services environment is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• Five or more years of general accounting experience.
• Experience with technical accounting and/or revenue recognition is required.
• Prior experience in a professional services firm or complex service-based environment is preferred.
• CPA is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensures proper application of revenue recognition policies and supports development of related best practices.
• Interprets and applies U.S. GAAP, including ASC 606, to new contract setup and arrangements in ERP.
• Reviews contracts and accounting scenarios to determine appropriate revenue treatment and timing of recognition.
• Partners with Principals and Project Managers on project status and milestone updates.
• Supports monthly and quarterly close activities related to revenue, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Supports audit requests related to revenue accounting and financial reporting.
• Prepares ad hoc reports, analysis, and special projects, as needed.
