Job summary

PACCAR Parts is seeking a Technical Research Specialist to provide advanced dealer and customer support by researching, analyzing, and resolving complex part information requests for heavy-duty truck applications. You will leverage engineering documentation, BOMs, vendor files, and knowledge bases to identify accurate part numbers and ensure timely responses.

Collaboration and knowledge sharing are key in this role.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant professional work experience required; automotive diagnosing experience preferred.
  • Proficient use of MS Office suite and ability to manage multiple web applications efficiently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Spanish proficiency highly desired.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude; truck knowledge is a plus.
  • Experience in Class 8 bill of materials and blueprint reading is desired.
  • Analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Strong customer service skills with a positive attitude.
  • Adaptable and detail oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Research and respond to complex part information requests using bills of material, engineering drawings, vendor files, Knowledge Base articles, and electronic catalogs to identify saleable replacement parts.
  • Analyze truck chassis configurations to validate customer requests, confirm application accuracy, and determine components required for change-outs or replacements.
  • Develop accurate part lists identifying required components, new parts to be added, and related items for the requested repair.
  • Evaluate impact of changes to ensure recommended parts do not negatively affect other systems or configurations.
  • Investigate, validate, and resolve dealer requests by interpreting chassis numbers and providing part recommendations.
  • Share technical knowledge by coaching and training peers on part identification, troubleshooting methods, systems, and research processes.
  • Research, author, and publish truck-related Knowledge Base content to support dealer self-service and consistency.
  • Participate in special projects and contribute ideas to improve service quality and efficiency.

Requisition Summary

The Technical Research Specialist provides advanced customers and dealer support by researching, analyzing, and resolving complex part information requests for heavy-duty truck applications. This role uses technical resources, business systems, engineering documentation, and product knowledge to identify accurate, saleable part numbers and support timely resolution of customer inquiries. The position plays a key role in strengthening dealer support, improving part information accuracy, expanding customer self-service through knowledge base content, and contributing technical expertise that supports part sales, service quality, and overall customer experience.

Job Functions / Responsibilities
  • Research and respond to complex part information requests using bills of material, engineering drawings, vendor files, Knowledge Base articles, and electronic catalogs to identify saleable replacement parts compatible with original truck systems.
  • Analyze truck chassis configurations to validate customer requests, confirm application accuracy, and determine the components required for change-outs or replacements.
  • Develop accurate part lists that identify required components, new parts to be added, and any related items needed to support the requested repair.
  • Evaluate the impact of requested changes to ensure recommended parts do not negatively affect other truck systems, components, or configurations.
  • Investigate, validate, and resolve complex dealer requests by interpreting the truck chassis number, confirming the correct application, and providing part recommendations based on technical truck knowledge.
  • Actively share technical knowledge by coaching and training peers on part identification, troubleshooting methods, systems, and research processes.
  • Research, author, and publish truck-related Knowledge Base content that supports dealer self-service and improves consistency in part information responses.
  • Participate in special projects and contribute ideas that improve service quality, process efficiency, customer experience, and technical support capabilities.

Salary Range

At PACCAR, we value talent and promote growth and development. We carefully consider numerous compensation factors including your education, training, or experience. The salary range for this position is $70,500 - $96,690 annually. Additionally, this role is eligible for the full range of benefit options listed above.
