Job description

Thintronics is solving one of the defining challenges in modern computing: moving massive amounts of data and power between chips at unprecedented speeds and densities. As Moore's Law slows, performance is increasingly defined by advanced packaging, chiplets, and high-density substrates. Our materials technology enables new levels of interconnect density, signal integrity, and power delivery inside next-generation semiconductor packages. We partner directly with leading IDMs, foundries, substrate manufacturers, and OSATs building the most advanced AI and HPC platforms in the world.

Job Role – Who We Want

The DART (Dielectrically Advanced Resin Technology) team at Thintronics is looking for a detail-oriented and enthusiastic research associate to join our R&D team. This role focuses on formulation/sample preparation and/or physical characterization of samples, including thermal, mechanical, adhesive, and dielectric property measurements. In this position, you will help deepen our understanding of the core Thintronics technology and develop our product pipeline.

As part of a start-up, you can expect opportunities to grow and learn new skills. The more capable you are, the more opportunities you will have to expand your career. We are looking for someone with a “can-do” attitude, who is excited about the opportunity to explore/develop a broad range of practical skills and loves hands-on work in the lab. Roles and responsibilities are collaborative and may evolve based on the needs of our quickly growing company as well as your skillset/interests.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • B.S. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related discipline
  • Must be able to move up to 25 pounds
Preferred Qualifications:
  • M.S. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related discipline
  • 1–5 years of relevant industry/start-up experience
  • Experience with polymer/composite formulation and/or thin film fabrication
  • Be familiar with analytical instruments including TGA, DMA, TMA, DSC, rheometer, Brookfield viscometer, FTIR, SEM, laser confocal microscope (Keyence), Instron/Zwick universal testing systems, peel testers
  • Rigorous attention to detail with experimental design, execution, and recordkeeping
  • Strong analytical, organizational, teamwork, and time management skills
  • Able to juggle multiple tasks efficiently
  • Preference will go to local candidates

Level of the Technical or Research Associate (TA or RA) will depend on overall qualifications and years of experience.

Joining a start-up requires a willingness to embrace change and uncertainty with your projects. We move fast and change directions as needed. Your ability to pivot and embrace the learning and challenges that come with this environment will determine your ability to succeed.

Additionally, hard work is appreciated and rewarded; willingness to collaborate with different teams, learning new instruments, and having fun are required. The DART team and Thintronics are growing – are you ready to join us?

  • Thintronics offers a competitive base salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
  • Compensation growth is tied to role performance and advancement, with clear opportunities for increase through promotion as the company scales.
  • In addition to base salary, this role includes a grant of qualified stock options subject to standard vesting schedules.
  • The base salary range for this position is $70,000–$110,000 per year. Actual compensation will depend on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications.
  • This role also includes eligibility for a Thintronics' benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k), and paid time off.
