Job summary

Astor & Sanders Corporation in McLean, VA is seeking a Technical Proposal Writer to produce compliant, compelling content for government solicitations (RFPs, RFIs, RFQs). You will work with technical staff to translate complex input into proposal-ready narratives that address delivery, benefits, and mission impact.

The role requires 1+ years in proposal/technical writing, a Bachelor’s degree in English/Communications/tech, and strong editing, research, and collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in proposal writing or related professional writing.
• Bachelor’s Degree in English, Communications, or a technology field.

• Analytical mindset to interpret government solicitations, identify key response requirements, and support compliant proposal development.

Responsibilities

• Develop compliant, compelling content for government solicitations, including RFPs, RFIs, and RFQs, with a focus on technical solution and approach narratives
• Work directly with technical project staff and subject matter experts to gather, clarify, and translate technical input into proposal-ready content
• Lead or support SME interviews and working sessions to draw out technical details, delivery examples, customer benefits, and mission impact
• Organize and prepare information and data to write a variety of technical publications, including white papers, for a Federal Government audience requiring in-depth knowledge and understanding of information technology (IT) and management consulting services
• Incorporate win themes, customer benefits, strengths, differentiators, proof points, and relevant examples into technical proposal content
• Clearly communicate the proposed solution, delivery approach, and value to the customer’s mission and operations
• Improve proposal readability by using clear and concise headings, bullets, tables, callout boxes, graphics/visuals, and other scannable formats
• Review and edit proposal content for clarity, compliance, persuasiveness, and alignment with win themes
• Manage multiple proposal writing and editing assignments simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines
• Additional duties as assigned

Requirements

The anticipated salary range for this position is $60,000-$80,000 annually. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, candidate skills and education, geographical location, certifications, and business needs, as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position and could fall outside of this range. This salary range represents Astor's good-faith estimate of compensation for the position at the time of posting.
