Technical Project Manager – Federal Programs & AI

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead technology-focused projects and cross-functional technical teams supporting U.S. Federal Government programs. The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing IT/software projects, Federal stakeholders, and technical teams, along with exposure to Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Generative AI, or related technologies.

The Technical Project Manager will coordinate closely with Federal stakeholders, engineering teams, AI/ML professionals, business users, and leadership to ensure successful delivery of secure, scalable, and mission-focused technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end planning and execution of technical projects supporting Federal Government clients.
• Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, risks, dependencies, resources, milestones, and deliverables.
• Lead and coordinate AI/ML and technical teams consisting of AI engineers, ML engineers, data scientists, software engineers, cloud engineers, and DevOps professionals.
• Support the planning and delivery of AI/ML, Generative AI, LLM, automation, and data-driven solutions.
• Translate business and mission requirements into actionable technical project plans and delivery roadmaps.
• Serve as a key liaison between Federal stakeholders, technical teams, AI teams, vendors, and program leadership.
• Facilitate Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives, and backlog prioritization.
• Track technical progress, resource utilization, risks, issues, and dependencies across multiple workstreams.
• Coordinate AI solution development from requirements and prototyping through testing, deployment, and operationalization.
• Work with technical leads to identify AI/ML delivery risks, technical dependencies, resource requirements, and mitigation strategies.
• Ensure AI and technology initiatives align with Federal security, governance, privacy, compliance, and responsible AI requirements.
• Prepare project status reports, executive briefings, dashboards, presentations, and other program documentation.
• Coordinate with Federal Contracting Officer Representatives (CORs), Program Managers, technical leads, and other government stakeholders.
• Drive collaboration between business, technical, data, cloud, cybersecurity, and AI teams.
• Identify opportunities to improve project delivery processes, technical collaboration, and team performance.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience managing technical IT/software projects or programs.
• Demonstrated experience supporting U.S. Federal Government programs or contracts.
• Experience managing cross-functional technical teams and multiple concurrent priorities.
• Experience working with or managing AI/ML, data, software engineering, cloud, or emerging technology teams.
• Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile, Scrum, and/or DevOps methodologies.
• Strong project planning, risk management, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Project, Azure DevOps, or similar project management tools.
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, government stakeholders, and executive leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

• PMP certification preferred.
• Scrum Master, SAFe, Agile, or similar certification.
• Experience with Generative AI, LLMs, RAG, Machine Learning, MLOps, or AI-enabled applications.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or other cloud platforms.
• Experience supporting DevSecOps, cybersecurity, data engineering, or enterprise application environments.
• Experience supporting Federal agencies such as DOL, CMS, HHS, FDA, DHS, GSA, or similar agencies.
• Experience working within Federal government contracting and acquisition environments.
• Ability to obtain and maintain the required Federal security clearance or Public Trust.
