We are recruiting on behalf of Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) for two Technical Project Managers to serve as Risk Analysts at LANL's office in Richland, WA. This is an entry-level, developmental role supporting risk management for capital asset projects. You will learn project risk management, keep risk documentation accurate, and support routine assessments and reporting while working alongside experienced risk professionals.
You will learn risk management practices aligned with DOE G 413.3-7A, Risk Management Guide, and the capital asset project process under DOE O 413.3B. Assignments are clearly defined, with regular direction, mentoring, and review. Training covers identifying and documenting risks, supporting risk assessments, and the fundamentals of Monte Carlo analysis. The team is growing quickly with new project scope, sits in the same office as the project controls managers, and is a good place to learn several areas of project work and find where you want to grow.
Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, project management, business, mathematics, statistics, or a related field. Bachelor's degrees in other disciplines will be considered; the team puts more weight on the ability to learn and grow than on a specific major. Prior work experience is not required. Prior experience with Monte Carlo simulation or specialized risk software is also not required, as training, mentoring, and supervised practical experience will be provided.
No security clearance is required at hire. The ability to obtain a DOE "Q" clearance is preferred, and an active "Q" is a plus. The selected candidates must be able to obtain Laboratory site access.
Duration: 2 years, with possibility of extension. Extensions are not guaranteed and are at the discretion of the hiring organization.
Estimated Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week. No overtime or on-call is anticipated.
Work Schedule: 4/10s. Tuesday and Wednesday are required in the office; limited telework is available as assigned.
Start Date: As soon as possible
Occasional travel may be required, up to one trip per year.
Interviews are conducted virtually via Microsoft Teams with the hiring team. Candidates local to Richland may be invited to meet the team in person.
