Job summary

SubCom is seeking a Project Manager to coordinate marine installation and shore-end activities for subsea fiber projects. You will manage planning, budgets, and stakeholder interfaces to ensure on-time, compliant execution.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and PM certification, with strong communication, collaboration, and MS Office skills. International travel is involved, and VLOOKUP is not a requirement.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate and monitor marine installation and shore-end activities for subsea fiber optic cable projects, including execution plans, schedules, mobilization plans and recovery actions.
  • Ensure marine activities comply with approved procedures, project requirements, applicable regulations and contractual obligations.
  • Provide technical and operational input to project planning, risk assessments and method statements.
  • Serve as the primary interface between the project team, client representatives, marine contractors, vessel operators and offshore personnel, including participation in coordination meetings and reviews.
  • Support ISO driven process improvement initiatives by adhering to policies and processes related to project documentation (import/export commercial invoices, spares plan/inventories, MS Project plans of work)
  • Manage day-to-day interfaces with installation vessels, survey vessels, burial contractors and other marine service providers.
  • Coordinate vessel readiness, mobilization and demobilization, ensuring equipment, personnel and documentation are in place.
  • Monitor contractor performance against scope, program and operational requirements, and elevate operational, technical, program or contractual issues as needed.
  • Participate in vessel inspections, readiness reviews, mobilization meetings and offshore project meetings.
  • Support offshore installation campaigns, attending operations when required to provide project oversight and client/contractor interface.
  • Review daily progress, operational data and vessel reports, coordinating responses to offshore issues and practical recovery solutions.
  • Maintain clear communication between offshore teams and the onshore project organization.
  • Provide regular updates on marine progress, risks, issues and forecast completion dates for internal management and client reporting.
  • Accurately manage marine operational budgets, continually tracking and controlling cost and targeting savings where appropriate. This will include vessel and contractor budgets, forecasts, invoicing, variations, cost variances, purchase requisitions and purchase orders, fuel true-ups and daily hire/on-hire/off-hire reconciliation with Finance.
  • Ensure project lessons learned and safety observations are captured, communicated and acted upon
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in subsea fiber optic sector or parallel sector
  • Completion of a higher education degree or a technical/vocational program
  • Project Management Certification from a recognized governing institution
  • Ability to analyze & manage financial budgets
  • Experience with Math & Statistics, Computer Operations
  • Basic understanding of contracts and contract management
  • Proficient verbal and written communications
  • Critical thinking aptitude (problem solving and identifying areas for improvement)
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, in particular Excel, Word and Power Point, and MS Project is preferred.
  • Ability to work well in group / collaborative settings.
