Job Overview

Senior IT Project Manager at Stanford Health Care is responsible for end‑to‑end management of critical projects, leading multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring successful integration of clinical and business operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead definition of project scope, goals, and deliverables, and set expectations across all stakeholders.
  • Negotiate and resolve scope creep and other risks associated with executing project plans.
  • Establish detailed project schedule and budget in conjunction with Project Managers, coordinators, Team Leads, Managers and Directors.
  • Ensure all costs over and above the financial scope identified at the outset of the project are clearly identified and approved.
  • Lead project steering committee meetings with appropriate content related to project progress, risks, issues, mitigations and any other items that require steering committee actions.
  • Identify ways of improving work‑smart processes and making appropriate changes to project management.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date project documentation for all initiatives that include technical details, user expectations, project goals, work effort, accountability, and deliverables.
  • Engage with the education team to understand their needs and direct internal project activities to facilitate end‑use training.
  • Research issues and use independent analysis and judgment to produce solution options, including alternative solutions when necessary.
  • Lead smooth coordination and turnover of projects at the initial stage, project conclusion, and transition to the education team and end users as required.
  • Develop and institutionalize sound project management process disciplines and continuous process improvement.
  • Lead periodic customer satisfaction surveys – guide project coordinators to collect data and report to IT management.
  • Provide input into annual performance review of all project team members as required.
  • Perform miscellaneous job‑related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university.
  • Seven (7) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of goals and interdependencies of functional departments in the health care industry and ability to lead large‑scale complex IT projects.
  • Knowledge of SDLC, Agile and other software development methodologies.
  • Knowledge of information technology disciplines including network operations, databases, software applications and interfaces, quality assurance and systems management.
  • Strong written, oral, instructional, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly self‑motivated, change oriented with strong customer orientation.
  • Ability to direct staff in integrating IT services with work requirements and deliverables.
  • Understanding of principles and practices of organization, administration, fiscal and personnel management.
  • Ability to manage disputes appropriately, communicate concepts concisely, and use visuals when appropriate.
  • Knowledge of current issues and trends in health care and clinical operations.
  • Ability to apply judgment, make informed decisions, develop programs and lead process improvement projects.
  • Ability to foster effective working relationships, build consensus, and manage relationships with external vendors.
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, work independently, meet deadlines, strategize, implement change, supervise, coach, mentor, train and evaluate work results.

Base Pay Scale
