Job summary

Strategic Management Solutions, LLC (SMSI) is seeking a Technical Project Manager to support our client, Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). The position is onsite in Los Alamos, NM, managing discrete technical construction scope and ensuring timely completion of all project elements.

The role oversees technical deliverables, budgets, schedules, and risks, and supports, while at times leading, the project team through planning, tracking, and turnover from initiation through turnover.

Qualifications

  • Requires active DOE Q Clearance and U.S. citizenship.
  • Extensive nuclear facility construction experience and familiarity with DOE/NNSA processes.
  • 5 years of directly related project management experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage project activities in alignment with DOE/NNSA requirements.
  • Organize work into control accounts and work packages to meet objectives.
  • Report to Manager of Projects and oversee day-to-day management of project area.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate construction policies and procedures for a nuclear facility.
  • Support development and monitoring of program budgets and schedules; provide technical guidance to teams.
  • Travel as needed, including long and short term.

Job Summary

SMSI LLC is seeking a Technical Project Manager to assist our client, Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). This position will be onsite in Los Alamos, NM. The candidate will support and manage discrete technical construction scope, ensuring timely completion of all project elements. This role oversees technical requirements; defines and manages project deliverables, budgets, schedules, and risks; and supports, while at times leading, the project team in planning, tracking, and executing the scope from initiation through turnover.

Responsibilities
  • Manage project activities in alignment with National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) and Department of Energy (DOE) 413.3B requirements.
  • Work is organized into control accounts and corresponding work packages that define tasks necessary to meet programmatic objectives.
  • Report to the Manager of Projects (MOP) and is responsible for the day to day administrative and operational management of an assigned project/program area.
  • Responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating policies, procedures, and standards related to construction and work execution within a nuclear facility.
  • Support development and monitoring of program budgets and provides technical guidance to project teams, support departments, and matrixed resources.
  • Long term and short term travel as needed.
Job Requirements
  • Prior nuclear facility and/or laboratory experience is required along with an emphasis on recent and relevant experience with security/classification protocols in a Department of Energy (DOE) and/or National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) setting where active D&D, construction, testing, and turnover was being performed under Nuclear Quality Assurance-1 (NQA-1) requirements.
  • Prior construction experience, particularly supporting work in a nuclear facility.
  • Extensive experience working compliantly within strict nuclear security and classification environments, and an active Q clearance is required.
  • Must have an active DOE Q Clearance
  • Must be a US Citizen.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Work planning and controls experience
  • Effective coordination and communication between representatives of construction, operations, and support organizations such as radiological control, criticality/nuclear/occupational safety
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of directly related experience
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to occupation
