Job summary

The Electric Plant Co. in San Francisco is recruiting a Technical Program Manager to run our research roadmap, DGP operations, and partner programs with CROs and university researchers.

You will translate scientist hypotheses into a plan, coordinate with science and AI teams, build credibility through papers, grants, and new partnerships, and report to the CEO. This full-time, in-person role requires traveling to field sites and partner locations and contributing to a trusted, evidence-driven

Qualifications

  • Track record specifying experimental or data-generation work: defining exit criteria and success metrics, and knowing what “enough evidence” looks like.
  • Experience holding firm on a requirement or data-quality bar with a stakeholder or external partner who’d rather do it a more convenient way, without damaging the relationship.
  • PhD or equivalent deep research training in Life Sciences or related field (Strong plus).
  • Grounding in plant physiology or agronomy, or a strong track record running rigorous scientific research operations.

Responsibilities

  • Validate capabilities like drought-stress detection across new locations and species.
  • Track active research bets from discovery to deployment, noting stages and blockers.
  • Source, vet, contract, and manage CROs and university researchers to meet specs.
  • Coordinate between science, AI/ML, and external partners to unify the plan.
  • Build research capacity through paper partnerships, advisory board, grants, and partnerships.
