Job summary

Google is seeking a Technical Program Manager to lead complex, multi-disciplinary initiatives across hardware, software, and operations. You will plan requirements, identify risks, manage schedules, and communicate with cross-functional teams and executives to ensure on-time delivery and scalable infrastructure.

You will help develop software for new Google-designed hardware, plan deployments to data centers, monitor hardware, diagnose failures, and schedule repairs.

You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

We plan and deliver automated software solutions enabling capacity expansions of Google infrastructure. This is a unified mission shared across multiple organizations and disciplines to deliver capacity (i.e. network, compute, storage, etc.) at scale while continuously introducing new technologies into Google’s infrastructure.

We work cross functionally with various hardware, software, and operations partner teams to fulfil infrastructure demand to serve Google’s internal services and enable user growth. We are continuously improving our ability to fulfil infrastructure demands as new technologies and capacity needs evolve.

Our software Technical Program Managers help deliver a variety of programs in the area of data center software. You will be responsible for the development of software to support new Google-designed hardware products, including software for planning the deployment of the new hardware to our data centers, monitoring the hardware, detecting and diagnosing failures in the hardware, and scheduling repairs.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $163000 - $236000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

• Scope, plan, and manage large programs, including management of associated financial and human resources, quality of software development and features, risks, schedules, communication plans, and deliverables.
• Provide management with forecasts of project deliverables and detailed status updates.
• Present your team's analyses, recommendations, and approaches to stakeholders and executive management.
• Initiate new software development programs, identify and deliver software features that drive performance, scale, functionality, security, quality, and efficiency, based on prioritized needs, be the catalyst for program support and delivery.
