Job summary

Reality Labs is seeking a Technical Program Manager II to drive the definition, implementation, and delivery of complex consumer device programs in a Bay Area setting. You will collaborate with software, hardware, and product management teams to meet milestones and quality targets across multiple interdependent projects.

The role emphasizes launch metrics, risk mitigation, and strong communication with leadership, while guiding cross-functional teams toward on-time product delivery and system

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science or computer engineering; MBA preferred.
  • PMP or PMI certification required or preferred.
  • 3+ years as a TPM managing software for consumer device programs.
  • Experience owning launch metrics and coordinating cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver programs within scope, quality, time, and budget with risk management.
  • Plan program strategy with executive-level interaction and complex issue resolution.
  • Lead internal teams and contractors to deliver systems and enhancements per requirements.
  • Oversee scope definition, requirements gathering, scheduling, budgeting, status reporting, and cross-organizational communications.
  • Manage release readiness and ensure software stability against metrics.

Job Title: Technical Program Manager II
Duration: 12 months
Locations: Bay Area (US - CA - Sunnyvale / Redmond, WA)
Summary:
  • The main function of a Technical Program Manager is to provide successful definition, implementation and delivery of complex programs that require cross-functional collaboration and interdependencies across a group of projects and/or related activities.
Top must-have HARD skills:
  • 3+ years of experience as a Technical Program Manager managing software for consumer device programs from inception to production
  • Experience owning launch metrics and driving engineering teams, as well as experience managing complex programs with high interdependency and navigating risks within rigid deadlines.
  • Superb communication and interpersonal experience, including relationship building and collaboration within a cross-functional team.
  • Knowledge of software development and product development processes and best practices.
  • Experience in managing multiple programs concurrently.
  • Experience in communicating program status, risks and planned mitigations to technical experts and leadership.
Good to have skills:
  • Experience working on battery life: silicon, power performance, firmware, embedded software
  • Big tech experience.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Deliver programs within the constraints of scope, quality, time and budget and under circumstances involving multiple moderate-probability, moderate-impact risk factors.
  • Program-level strategic planning, interaction with executive level management, complex issue resolution, excellent communications and team building skills.
  • Manage a group or groups of internal exempt and matrixed employees and contractors that serve on the project(s) to deliver systems and systems enhancements that meet specified requirements.
  • Oversight of project scope definition and management, requirements gathering and documentation, time estimating, project schedule development and tracking, project budget management, project status reporting, issue and risk management, contingency planning, customer interaction, and communications across multiple organizational levels.

  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible/ adaptable in exercising judgment in a changing environment and to manage competing priorities

  • Experience delivering technology and business application solutions in a large-scale, multi-platform systems environment
  • Experience with software development lifecycle
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required. MBA or other related advanced degree preferred.

Typical Day in the Role:
  • Build detailed execution plans. Oversight of scope definition and management aligned to requirements, time estimating, program schedule development and tracking, status reporting, issue and risk management, contingency planning, and communications across multiple organizational levels.
  • Lead cross-functional metric reviews to drive resolution of top technical issues and mitigate launch blockers.
  • Oversee crash triage by monitoring dashboards, analyzing data, and maintaining rigorous stability tracking.
  • Manage release readiness to ensure all software meets stability gates and key performance indicators.
  • Identify and implement process improvements for triage workflows and documentation of best practices.
  • Communicate program status, risks, and mitigation plans clearly to leadership and cross-functional partners.
  • Partner with Senior engineering and TPMs to define long-term strategy, roadmaps, and end-to-end plans for device system health.
