Job description

Are you a technically strong engineer ready to take the next step into program leadership?

We are partnering with a large, rapidly growing engineering and manufacturing organization seeking a Technical Program Manager to join its team in the Greater Philadelphia area.

This opportunity is particularly well suited for an experienced Project Engineer, Senior Engineer, or technical professional who has recently transitioned into project/program management—or is ready to make that move.

The Technical Program Manager will serve as a key technical partner across engineering, manufacturing, commercial teams, customers, and other cross-functional stakeholders. The ideal candidate brings a strong engineering foundation, experience working with complex engineered products, and an understanding of how new products progress from design and development through manufacturing.

Experience with electromechanical products or systems is highly preferred, although strong mechanical or electrical engineering backgrounds will also be considered.

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • Strong engineering foundation with experience supporting complex products, systems, or equipment
  • Experience as a Project Engineer, Senior Engineer, Technical Lead, or similar engineering role
  • Interest in transitioning into—or continuing to grow within—technical program/project management
  • Experience working within a highly regulated environment, such as aerospace, defense, medical device, or another complex regulated industry
  • New Product Development (NPD) and/or New Product Introduction (NPI) experience strongly preferred
  • Understanding of the process required to transition a new product from engineering/design into manufacturing and production
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional engineering and manufacturing initiatives
  • Strong understanding of technical requirements, schedules, deliverables, risks, and dependencies
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, manufacturing teams, customers, vendors, and business stakeholders
  • Experience with RFQs, RFIs, proposals, customer requirements, or business development activities is a plus
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a technical partner across engineering, manufacturing, commercial teams, customers, and other key stakeholders
  • Lead technical programs and projects from initial requirements and planning through execution and delivery
  • Support new product development and the transition of engineered products into manufacturing
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to establish project scope, technical requirements, deliverables, resources, schedules, and budgets
  • Partner closely with engineering teams while maintaining a strong understanding of the technical details behind each program
  • Identify technical and program risks and proactively drive solutions
  • Coordinate activities across engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, vendors, and other internal and external partners
  • Track program milestones, budgets, deliverables, and overall performance against established objectives
  • Communicate program status, risks, priorities, and technical considerations to internal leadership and external stakeholders
  • Help ensure products and programs meet customer, quality, regulatory, cost, and schedule requirements
  • Support continuous improvement of program execution and new product introduction processes
Ideal Background

The strongest candidate may not be someone who has spent their entire career in program management.

We are particularly interested in engineers who have built strong technical depth and progressively taken ownership of projects, products, customers, or cross-functional initiatives. This could be an excellent next step for a Project Engineer, Senior Mechanical/Electrical Engineer, Systems Engineer, Product Engineer, or Technical Lead who wants to move into a broader Technical Program Manager role.
