Job summary

Florida State University is seeking a part-time Technical Production Assistant for the Ringling Museum team in Sarasota, FL. The OPS/temporary position supports Art of Performance and On Screen productions, assisting with load-ins, rehearsals, and performances under the Production Manager's guidance.

The role requires a high school diploma, 3 years of professional theatre experience, and the ability to lift 60 pounds and work at heights.

• Executes set build, load in and technical requirements as determined by Production Manager.
• Reads and interprets lighting plot and other drawings in association with the Production Manager.
• Runs light board for dress rehearsal and performances as needed.
• Runs preshow check to make sure all equipment is working prior to performances and film screenings, troubleshooting as needed.
• Works with IATSE electric crew.
• Maintains and repairs conventional fixtures, scrollers and moving lights.
• Operates film projection system for testing and movie screenings.

Department

The John & Mable Ringling Museum of Art is located in Sarasota, Florida, and is a department of Florida State University.

Responsibilities

Technical and production assistance for Art of Performance and On Screen productions; work with Production Manager to assist as production crew during load in, technical and dress rehearsals, and performances/film screenings; assist artists/designers as much as possible on implementation of design; act as liaison between Production Manager and guest artists and rental productions to troubleshoot; communicate as needed with Box Office and Front of House for Historic Asolo Theater; and act as production staff for evening and weekend productions in collaboration with Production Manager and Art Performance staff.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Technical Theater and two years of professional experience.
• Knowledge of:
  • Fundamentals of electricity and general computer operation.
  • Basic programming knowledge of ETC GIO lighting console.
  • Basic knowledge of Q-Lab or similar.

Anticipated Salary Range

$20 to $25 per hour based on the education, skill, and experience of the selected candidate.
