Job summary

Playbill, Inc. in Fort Lee, New Jersey seeks an Office Production Assistant to support our educational theater programs and live events. This part-time role bridges office operations and on-site production, with occasional evenings and weekends.

You will manage props/wardrobe, assist with load-in/load-out, transport performers, and provide basic sound/AV support as needed. Travel within the tri-state area is expected.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in production, theater, or live events preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
  • Comfortable driving company or personal vehicle (gas/mileage reimbursed).
  • Interest in technology and willingness to learn basic sound and A/V systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow instructions, manage time, and work independently.
  • Availability for periodic weekends and evenings.
  • Comfortable working in schools, performance spaces, and offices.
  • Willingness to travel frequently within the tri-state area.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with general office tasks such as printing, note-taking, organizing materials, and on-site supervision.
  • Organize, catalog, maintain, and manage props, costumes, and wardrobe for performances and programs.
  • Prepare, load, transport, set up, and break down performance sets, props, and technical equipment.
  • Drive to performances and programs and assist on-site as needed.
  • Transport performers and teaching artists to and from performances when required.
  • Monitor basic sound and A/V support during performances (training provided).
  • Ensure materials and equipment are returned and stored properly for future use.
  • Communicate clearly with office staff, performers, and teaching artists to ensure smooth execution.
  • Support additional production and office needs as they arise.

Mainstages is an educational theater company that delivers high-energy performances, workshops, and enrichment programs to schools, camps, and community organizations. We are seeking a reliable, organized, and hands-on Office Production Assistant to report to our main office in Fort Lee, New Jersey, and support our growing slate of programs and live events.

Position Overview

The Office Production Assistant is a key support role that bridges office operations and on-site production.This is a part-time position with a potential for growth in the future. This position assists with administrative tasks, prop and wardrobe management, and live event logistics, including transportation, set-up, and technical support. The ideal candidate is proactive, must be detail-oriented, comfortable in fast-paced environments, and excited to support live performance work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with general office tasks including printing, note-taking, organizing materials, on-site-supervision, and basic administrative support
  • Organize, catalog, maintain, and manage all props, costumes, and wardrobe for performances and programs
  • Prepare, load, transport, set up, and break down performance sets, props, and technical equipment
  • Drive to performances and programs and assist on-site as needed
  • Transport performers and teaching artists to and from performances and programs when required.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment, props, and wardrobe items (up to approximately 40-50 lbs)
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move for extended periods during performances and events
  • Part-time position with variable hours based on programming and performance needs

Salary Range: $150 up to 3 shows per show date. $175 for 4+ shows per show date.
