Responsibilities

Job description

The Technical Product Specialist is responsible for providing advanced technical support for welding equipment and related product lines throughout the customer lifecycle.

This position will serve as a technical resource for customers, Sales, Sales Support, Project Management, and internal teams by troubleshooting equipment and application issues, supporting system setup and operation, providing product and application guidance, and driving technical issues through resolution. The Technical Product Specialist will work directly with customers to diagnose problems, determine appropriate solutions, coordinate with equipment manufacturers when necessary, and ensure technical issues are resolved accurately and efficiently.

The ideal candidate is mechanically and technically capable, naturally curious, customer-focused, comfortable troubleshooting complex equipment, and driven to understand why something is not working and how to fix it.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide advanced technical support for welding equipment, systems, accessories, and related products.
• Troubleshoot equipment, application, setup, programming, electrical, mechanical, and operational issues with customers and internal personnel.
• Take ownership of assigned technical cases from initial handoff through resolution, keeping the customer and appropriate internal personnel informed.
• Diagnose issues remotely through phone, email, video, photographs, system data, and other available information.
• Provide onsite technical support when remote troubleshooting is insufficient or the application requires field assistance.
• Support equipment installation, startup, configuration, testing, and customer training.
• Work with customers to understand applications and recommend appropriate equipment setup, tooling, accessories, consumables, and operating parameters.
• Support Technical Project Managers with technical requirements, functional testing, equipment readiness, customer training, and startup activities on complex projects.
• Assist Sales and Sales Support with complex technical questions and applications when advanced product expertise is required.
• Develop deep expertise in assigned product lines and maintain current knowledge of equipment, software, accessories, applications, and manufacturer updates.
• Participate in manufacturer training and continuing technical education as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of experience in welding, fabrication, industrial equipment, field service, manufacturing, automation, electrical/mechanical troubleshooting, or a related technical environment preferred.
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
• Welding and fabrication experience preferred; orbital or automated welding experience highly desirable.
• Ability to diagnose technical problems methodically and drive issues to a resolution.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to customers and internal personnel.
• Ability and willingness to travel to customer locations for technical support, startup, and training as required. Roughly 15% - 20% travel.
• Experience with industrial process piping, sanitary/high-purity piping, orbital welding, automated welding, or capital equipment is highly desirable.
