Title: Technical Product Owner – Performance Reporting

Department: Product Management

Posting Location: Remote

About Lexipol

At Lexipol, our mission is to create safer communities and empower the individuals on the front lines with market-leading content and technology. Our top-notch team works closely with law enforcement, fire, EMS, corrections, and local government professionals to tailor our solutions to better address today’s challenges and keep first responders coming home safely at the end of each shift.

Working at Lexipol means making a difference – day in and day out.

The Work:

Lexipol is seeking a seasoned, hands-on Technical Product Owner to drive product strategy and development on our SaaS-based Performance Reporting product for the public safety market. In this role, you will work with developers and stakeholders to shape product strategy, define requirements, build new features, and execute technology initiatives for an established, rapidly growing product. You'll translate business concepts into functional product updates and communicate technical tradeoffs in business terms for an executive audience.

Ideal candidates combine knowledge of modern software development with business-driven prioritization to drive innovation in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. You're a curious self-learner who communicates well up, down, and across an organization, asks thoughtful questions, and isn't afraid to dig into the data for answers. As a Technical Product Owner, you'll collaborate cross-functionally to translate business requirements into actionable engineering tasks — ensuring the product keeps evolving to meet our first responders' needs. This position is fully remote, with occasional travel to our corporate office in Frisco, TX.

This is done through working in these areas of focus:

Key Performance Objectives:
Strategic Planning (40%)
  • Help define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for Lexipol's Performance Reporting software solution within the context of the overall Lexipol platform
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor for the Performance Reporting product
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring a regular, appropriate cadence of updates across the organization
  • Conduct product update presentations and gather feedback and data on success metrics
  • Manage and report progress on roadmaps and milestones, overseeing scope, ensuring quality, and driving on-time delivery
  • Proactively identify, track, and clear risks and dependencies
  • Ensure proper data collection and monitoring tools and dashboards are in place
  • Guide timely escalation and/or negotiation up the chain when needed
  • Plan and execute the user acceptance and beta testing program, in partnership with the Director of product for performance reporting
Effective Requirement Gathering and Documentation (40%)
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and objectives
  • Write PRDs and clear, detailed user stories with well-defined acceptance criteria
  • Manage collaboration with our UX/UI design team and ensure readiness for requirements documentation and engineering backlog
  • Ensure all product documentation is up-to-date and accurately reflects current features and functionalities.
Active Participation in the Agile Process (10%)
  • Engage in all agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
  • Adjust and refine user stories based on feedback and changes to requirements
  • Assist in maintaining and prioritizing the product backlog, ensuring alignment with business objectives and stakeholder needs.
Support Engineering Team for Successful Delivery (10%)
  • Provide clarifications and answer queries from the engineering team regarding requirements
  • Work closely with developers to ensure understanding of user stories and acceptance criteria and with design team to ensure alignment
  • Scope and implement improvements and changes as required
Required Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience driving software delivery from ideation to completion at an enterprise SaaS/PaaS organization
  • 3+ years of experience working within an Agile framework (Kanban and Scrum) as a product owner, product manager, engineer, or subject matter expert
  • Strategic thinker with experience balancing and prioritizing short-term solutions while keeping the long-term vision in mind
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and organize work for self and others in a highly dynamic environment
  • Proven ability to write PRDs, detailed user stories, and acceptance criteria
  • Technically proficient with a proven track record of working with engineering and non-technical teams alike
  • Superior problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to exercise sound judgment to manage issue resolutions
