Job description

Role Overview

Own the strategy, roadmap, and delivery of Specialized’s Product Testing & Quality technology platforms, including LIMS, Field Test, and Quality Inspection systems. This role ensures testing, validation, and compliance platforms scale with R&D and NPI demands while protecting premium product quality.

How You’ll Make a Difference

You will modernize and scale lab and field-testing platforms, enable end‑to‑end quality traceability, reduce launch risk, and ensure testing systems accelerate—not block—innovation and time‑to‑market.

Core Experience Requirements – Deep LIMS Experience (Non‑Negotiable)
  • 7+ years working with enterprise LIMS platforms, ideally STARLIMS
  • Hands‑on experience with LIMS configuration, workflow design, sample lifecycles, test methods, and results management
  • Experience integrating lab instruments and automation with LIMS
  • Proven involvement in large‑scale LIMS implementations, extensions, or replacements
  • Experience owning LIMS as a long‑lived enterprise platform, not just a one‑time deployment
Systems Integration Leadership
  • Direct experience integrating LIMS with R&D systems, PLM or engineering platforms, test automation and lab equipment, and data lakes, analytics platforms, or ERP
  • Strong ability to translate business and lab needs into technical integration requirements
  • Comfortable partnering with enterprise architecture, integration, and data teams
R&D / Engineering Domain Familiarity
  • Experience supporting product development, validation, or testing labs
  • Strong understanding of engineering and validation test protocols
  • Familiarity with iterative R&D workflows and managing evolving test methods as designs change
  • Background in manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, or high‑tech hardware strongly preferred
Program & Stakeholder Skills
  • Ownership of multi‑site, multi‑year platform programs
  • Comfortable managing complex timelines, cross‑system dependencies, vendors, system integrators, budgets, and scope
  • Acts as a strong bridge between business, engaging lab scientists, quality engineers, R&D leadership, IT architecture and security teams, and external vendors
  • Known for turning ambiguous and evolving requirements into actionable delivery plans
Change Management & Platform Maturity Growth
  • Experience modernizing labs from manual or semi‑digital processes to enterprise platforms
  • Drives adoption and behavioral change, not just system go‑live
  • Anticipates organizational friction and plans for it
  • Guides platforms through multiple stages of maturity over time
Technical, Data, AI & Automation Attributes
  • Strong understanding of data models, data integrity, and end‑to‑end traceability
  • Familiarity with validation strategies in both regulated and non‑regulated environments
  • Experience with APIs, middleware, and event‑based integrations
  • Applies data discipline to enable scalable reporting, analytics, automation, and future AI use cases
  • Identifies opportunities to automate test data capture, result publishing, and quality reporting
  • Comfortable reviewing architecture diagrams, technical specifications, and validation documentation
Education and Background
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Background in manufacturing or high‑tech hardware strongly preferred
Personal Traits That Matter Most
  • Calm under complexity and proven delivery when requirements evolve mid‑flight
  • Highly structured thinker who brings order to complex testing, data, and integration environments
  • Influential without authority and able to align teams across organizations
  • Long‑term mindset, designing solutions that scale as R&D and testing volume increase
Benefits
  • Competitive pay with annual performance‑based reviews for continued growth and recognition
  • Comprehensive healthcare plan options, including PPO, EPO, HDHP, and HMO (acupuncture and physical therapy included)
  • Health Savings Account (HSA) with employer HSA contributions when enrolled in the High‑Deductible Healthcare Plan (HDHP)
  • Dental and Vision plans
  • 401(k) Company Matching up to $5,000 annually with immediate 100% vesting and administrative fees paid for by the company
  • Company‑paid Life, AD&D, Short‑Term Disability, and Long‑Term Disability Insurance
  • Employee Assistance Program that provides access to individualized mental well‑being care
  • Generous Vacation, Sick, Paid Holidays, and Volunteer Time Off
  • 14 weeks of 100% paid leave for birthing parents and 8 weeks of 100% paid leave for non‑birthing parents, plus a Specialized bike for your new baby
  • Up to $9,000 annually in Career Development & Degree Assistance
  • Up to $250 annually in Fitness & Wellness Reimbursement
  • Industry Pro‑Deal Discounts and Perks
