Job description

Overview

Chronograph was founded to bring next-generation technology to private capital markets. Through our suite of cloud-based analytics and data management solutions, we help many of the world’s largest and most sophisticated venture capital, private equity, and credit funds understand their investment performance in unprecedented detail, with over 258,000 private companies and 15,000 private capital funds monitored via our solution suite.

At Chronograph, we get to go “behind the scenes” and work directly with investors who are driving some of the most impactful changes across high growth start-ups, global infrastructure and renewable energy, growth equity, and all other private capital strategies. The firm is backed by Sixth Street Growth, Summit Partners, Carlyle AlpInvest, and Nasdaq Inc., and has seen continuous rapid growth since its founding in 2016. Our client base today includes hundreds of investors and asset managers monitoring more than $5.9 trillion in invested capital with 8 of the 10 largest GPs and 5 of the 10 largest LPs using Chronograph.

The Opportunity

Every insight in Chronograph rests on a shared layer: the ingestion and structuring of private capital reporting documents, turning highly variable, semi-structured inputs into trusted data. With AI now embedded across private markets, that layer has become the foundation for document intelligence, the classified, queryable data behind semantic search, portfolio analytics, and agentic, LLM-driven workflows.

We’re seeking a technically fluent, systems-minded product leader to own this layer and set its direction, carrying a decade of ML-based ingestion into the agentic era. This is a senior role for someone who has taken extraction products from concept through launch and held accuracy across thousands of formats. You’ll work across the full range of methods, from OCR to layout-aware models to vision-language and LLM-based extraction, with a clear view of where each belongs.

You’ll partner with engineering and applied AI/ML teams to specify extraction logic in enough detail to build against, with commercial and client-facing teams to connect capability to demand, and with senior leadership to set the pace and direction of the roadmap. You’ll treat extraction as an end-to-end product system, owning the human review layer and designing for how extracted data feeds downstream workflows. The role is open to senior product leaders as well as founding engineers, tech leads, and forward-deployed / applied AI operators who have owned this problem.

As a Technical Product Manager focusing on Data Extraction & Document Intelligence at Chronograph, you will:
  • Own the data extraction roadmap: Define how the full, variable range of documents that private capital markets run on gets ingested and structured into trusted, usable data.
  • Set direction across the full range of extraction techniques: OCR, layout-aware models, and vision-language / LLM approaches, choosing the right method for each document type and problem.
  • Design the extraction pipeline end-to-end: Own the human review and correction layer, and build systems that feed reporting, analytics, and document-intelligence workflows downstream.
  • Spec extraction logic for engineers: Engage credibly with ML, AI, and Document Capture Engineering teams on implementation and trade‑off decisions.
  • Set and defend the accuracy bar: Build eval‑driven frameworks that hold extraction quality as document volume and variety grow.
  • Connect capability to client demand: Work with senior leadership, commercial, and client‑facing teams to align the roadmap with where the business and industry are heading.
  • Be a leader: Stay at the frontier of agentic extraction and document intelligence, drive innovation across Chronograph’s product suite, and communicate your vision to internal and external audiences.
You will be successful in this role if you have:
  • Senior product leadership experience in a comparable role: You’ve owned VLM- and LLM-native extraction tools from inception to launch, setting direction, sequencing the roadmap, making prioritization calls, and managing releases.
  • Deep fluency in extraction techniques: You’ve worked directly across the full set of methods, from traditional OCR to layout‑aware models to vision‑language / LLM extraction, and you know where each fits.
  • Eval‑driven decision making: You’ve built the eval sets that test extraction across fields and formats, and used them to hold accuracy at scale, guide model selection, and decide what ships.
  • Enough technical depth to earn Engineering’s respect: You can spec extraction logic for a technical audience and hold your own when debating implementation and trade‑offs.
  • Strong product systems instinct: You reason through the whole chain, from initial agentic extraction to the human review layer to how each decision flows through downstream reporting workflows.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills: You can work credibly with senior leadership, client‑facing teams, engineering, and top clients, building buy‑in, keeping everyone pointed in one direction, and turning vision into concrete plans.
  • An AI-native way of working: You’ve adopted LLMs, prototyping platforms, and agentic tooling to redefine how you work.
Nice to haves:
  • Private markets or financial reporting domain exposure
  • Prior Engineering experience in a related field
