Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Irving, TX, seeks a Technical Product Manager for Data Collection & Pipeline to define strategy, roadmap, and delivery of data products enabling AI, analytics, and autonomous systems.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of business analysis and the set of tasks, techniques, and tools required to identify business and data needs; ability to recommend value-delivering solutions.
• Knowledge of the decision-making process and tools; ability to analyze data challenges and make informed decisions.
• Understanding of effective communication concepts and ability to transmit, receive, and interpret ideas across engineering, data science, operations, and leadership.
• Knowledge of data products, platforms, data assets, and long-term data strategy management.
• Knowledge of data collection methodologies, data acquisition strategies, annotation workflows, data quality management, and operations for high-quality datasets.
• Knowledge of data engineering methodologies, modern data architectures, ETL/ELT processes, cloud platforms, and scalable pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Create, maintain, and prioritize the Data Product Backlog based on business value and data readiness.
• Make key decisions on data collection capabilities, labeling workflows, data quality requirements, and pipeline functionality.
• Define acceptance criteria for data products, datasets, and platform capabilities.
• Define data collection strategies supporting AI, ML, analytics, and software development.
• Lead prioritization of data acquisition, sensor data collection, simulation data generation, and data sourcing.
• Drive development and optimization of labeling and annotation workflows.
• Collaborate with engineering to deliver scalable data ingestion, transformation, validation, storage, and delivery pipelines.
• Establish and monitor data quality metrics, governance standards, and KPIs.
• Translate data requirements into actionable product capabilities for stakeholders.
• Communicate data platform releases, roadmap updates, and capability enhancements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
