Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and technically adept Software Engineer IV – Technical Product Analyst to play a pivotal role in our legacy system modernization initiatives. This role bridges the gap between engineering and product, ensuring that modernization efforts are technically sound, strategically aligned, and executed with precision. You will work closely with engineering leads, product managers, QA teams, and external partners to define, document, and drive the transformation of legacy systems into scalable, cloud-native architectures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with engineering leads to analyze and document legacy system behavior, especially in mission-critical domains.
  • Decompose monolithic features into domain-aligned, cloud-ready service boundaries.
  • Define clear, actionable functional and non-functional requirements aligned with architectural goals.
  • Author and refine user stories with a focus on technical accuracy, edge cases, and system behavior.
  • Develop detailed API and interface specifications, including request/response structures and service contracts.
  • Ensure modernization efforts meet data integrity, performance, and compliance standards.
  • Prioritize and sequence modernization efforts based on risk, technical dependencies, and business value.
  • Act as a liaison across engineering, product, QA, and third-party vendors to ensure alignment and clarity.
  • Lead complex epics and user stories through the full software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Mentor team members on effective story development, refinement, and acceptance criteria.
  • Establish and promote best practices for story writing and technical documentation in modernization projects.
  • Drive continuous improvement in story lifecycle processes and tooling.
  • Contribute to architectural and technical decision-making for modernization strategies.
  • Champion innovative, scalable solutions for transitioning legacy systems to the cloud.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in systems analysis, technical product ownership, or solution architecture.
  • Proven experience with legacy-to-cloud transformations, especially monolith-to-microservices migrations.
  • Strong understanding of modern software architecture: REST APIs, message queues, service boundaries, and cloud-native patterns.
  • Ability to reverse-engineer legacy systems using logs, SQL queries, and user workflows.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Swagger/OpenAPI, Postman, Azure DevOps, and Jira.
  • Excellent written and visual communication skills, including flow diagrams, data mappings, and system specifications.
  • Experience with .NET, Azure, and distributed systems at scale is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with domain-driven design (DDD) and bounded contexts is a plus.
  • Experience in regulated industries such as healthcare or payroll is preferred.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a collaborative mindset.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring experience in cross-functional teams.
