Job summary

WURD Radio seeks a Technical Producer in Philadelphia, PA to support live and recorded shows across radio, video, and digital platforms. You will work backstage with hosts and guests to ensure smooth broadcasts and timely content delivery.

The role involves running the board, cueing commercials, managing StreamYard, editing and uploading content, booking guests, and coordinating show calendars. An on-site presence is required and programming may include evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

  • Requires high school diploma; degree preferred.
  • At least 1 year in video production, studio engineering, radio, or technical producing.
  • Familiarity with audio/video editing tools and social platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Run live and studio shows following format and timing.
  • Cue hosts for breaks and play ads per log.
  • Operate TV and manage show titles, hosts, and social media descriptions.
  • Manage StreamYard during programs and live broadcasts.
  • Edit and upload on-air content to SoundCloud after shifts.
  • Plan segments with hosts and select soundbites for shows.
  • Book guests and maintain the show calendar.
  • Record caller information and relay topics to hosts in writing.
  • Complete daily show reports and caller logs.
  • Take transmitter readings and sign off hourly on the log.
  • Assist with special projects and stand-in as needed.

Technical Producer
Location: Philadelphia, PA (On-site)

WURD Radio is seeking a Technical Producer to support live and recorded shows and help deliver high-quality, engaging content to our audience. In this role, you will work closely with hosts and guests behind the scenes to keep broadcasts running smoothly across radio, video, and digital platforms.

What You’ll Do
  • Run the board for live and studio shows, following station format and timing.
  • Cue hosts for commercial breaks and play commercials, promos, IDs, and PSAs according to the commercial log.
  • Operate WURD TV and manage show titles, host names, and descriptions for social media broadcasts.
  • Operate the station’s StreamYard account during programs and live broadcasts.
  • Edit and upload on-air content to SoundCloud after your producer shifts.
  • Meet with hosts to plan segments, transition music, and soundbites for each show.
  • Book show guests as needed and help maintain the show calendar.
  • Answer caller lines and relay caller information and topics to the host in writing.
  • Complete daily reports for each show and maintain accurate caller logs.
  • Take transmitter readings and sign off on the commercial log each hour on duty.
  • Assist with special projects and fill in for other producers/technical producers as needed.
What You Bring
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; undergraduate degree preferred.
  • At least 1 year of experience in video production, studio engineering, radio, or technical producing.
  • Familiarity with audio and video editing software (e.g., common editing tools).
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office and social media platforms.
  • Ability to think creatively about how to present content and engage audiences.
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to adapt content for different platforms.
  • Knowledge of recording equipment and the ability to operate different radio studios.
  • Reliability, attention to detail, and composure in a fast-paced live broadcast environment.
Schedule & Reporting
  • On-site in Philadelphia, PA; schedule may include evenings, weekends, and holidays based on programming needs.
  • Reports to the Program and News Director.
