Job description

About LMN

Lemon Media Network is the independent media company founded by veteran journalist Don Lemon, built on the conviction that journalism should be done without fear or favor and that a free press is the bedrock of democracy. Through The Don Lemon Show and a growing roster of correspondents and verticals, LMN delivers daily breaking news, political analysis, and cultural commentary to a community of more than 10 million followers across platforms.

We launched in 2024 and have grown fast: a twice-daily live show, a daily newsletter, a fast-growing paid membership community, and a national tour. In April 2026, The Don Lemon Show swept the 30th annual Webby Awards in its category, winning both the Webby and the People's Voice Award for Best Video Podcast Host. Earlier this year the show took home four NAACP Image Awards, including Outstanding News and Information. We're a small, independent team building something that didn't exist two years ago.

The Job

We're looking for a Technical Producer to own the technical operation of a twice-daily live show.

This is the person who gets us live and keeps us live. Every platform, every show, every day. When the stream drops, this is the person who fixes it. When the audio is wrong, this is the person who hears it first.

It is also a post role. Between live shows you'll be cutting: the weekend drop, full-length interviews built from raw studio footage, clips and packaging.

You'll take over an operation that already works. That means learning it, documenting it, and then making it better.

The job is in New York and it's in person. The show comes out of a studio and this work happens in the room.

Sample Responsibilities

The list below is representative, not exhaustive. Because LMN is a small, fast-moving team, the Technical Producer will take on a range of work as the news cycle and the company evolve.

  • Own stream operations end to end: get the show live across every platform we distribute on, monitor it while it runs, and solve it in real time when something breaks
  • Own the studio: cameras, audio, lighting, signal flow, and the encoder chain, plus the troubleshooting when any of it fails mid-show
  • Own audio distribution to the podcast feeds and the delivery of finished assets wherever they need to go
  • Deliver to our 24/7 linear channel: encode and QC to partner spec, keep the archive pipeline feeding the schedule, and answer for it when something goes wrong on a channel that never goes dark
  • Cut long form: the pre-published weekend drop built from the best of that week's shows, full-length interviews built from raw studio footage, and the clips that come off both
  • Get raw and finished assets to our social team on a schedule they can build against
  • Build and maintain graphics and packaging for the live show, including lower thirds, show opens, and on-screen elements
  • Shoot in the field with Don, from iPhone and gimbal setups through to the camera package as we build it out
  • Run guest technical checks before air and keep comms working during the show, including talkback and prompter
  • Own the footage archive: where raw material lives, how it's backed up, how long we keep it, and how anyone finds a two-year-old interview in a hurry
  • Build and hold the redundancy: backup connectivity, a failover path, and local recording, so that a dropped stream never costs us a show
  • Handle copyright claims, disputes, and appeals across our channels, and keep our standing with the platforms clean
  • Manage the gear: what we own, what needs replacing, what we should buy next and why
  • Write down how the operation runs so it isn't living in one person's head
  • Work with our platform partners on technical requirements as we add distribution
  • Sit in show calls, flag what's technically possible and what isn't, and tell us early when an idea won't survive contact with a live stream
  • Contribute in editorial calls: what we should cover, what we're missing, what's going to travel
What We're Looking For
  • You have run a live operation yourself. Multi-platform streaming, encoders, multistreaming software, and the back end that goes with it. Whether that was a newsroom, a creator's team, or your own channel matters less than whether you were the one who owned it when it broke
  • A real editor. Premiere, Resolve, or Final Cut, fast, able to cut long form and make it feel like a show rather than a recording
  • Comfortable with studio hardware. Cameras, audio, lighting, and signal flow. If you haven't run a multi-camera studio, you've run enough of one to pick up the rest quickly
  • Audio that you can actually hear. Mixers, mics, levels, and the ability to catch a problem before the audience does
  • Calm under live failure. Things break during live shows and we want someone who gets quieter rather than louder
  • Appetite for the volume. This is twice a day, every day, with an audience that notices when something is off. Doing it well once is not the same as doing it two hundred times a year
  • Able to work alone and decide alone. On a team this size nobody is going to hand you a runbook for the thing that just went wrong
  • Someone who documents, because the operation should outlive any one person's memory of it
  • Curiosity about the show itself. You don't need a journalism background, but you should care what we're covering and why
Nice to Have
  • Motion graphics and design work in After Effects, Photoshop, Figma, or Canva
  • Podcast distribution, RSS, and audio post
  • Linear or FAST channel delivery, including file specs, playout schedules, and QC
  • Field production and comfort traveling for shoots
  • Experience with membership platforms or live audience tools including chat, polls, and call-in
  • Fluent with AI tools in a real production workflow
  • Multi-camera studio builds, or having stood up a studio from scratch
