Base pay range

$146,000.00/yr - $203,000.00/yr

Position: Technical Procedure Writer (Plant Commissioning)

Salary Range (Dependent Upon Experience): $146,610 to $203,625

Travel Expectations: potential 10% to plant sites during lead time.

Work Site Expectations: 5 days a week in office

Hours: 8:00am-5:00pm, Mon-Fri

Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced technical writer or SME in nuclear, utilities, or plant commissioning, to develop, review, and revise procedures and technical documentation for the plant commissioning team. They will collaborate with managers, Design and R&D Engineers, and/or other key stakeholders, operational teams, and compliance personnel to ensure procedures are aligned with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.

Job Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in area relevant to role for Level IV.
  • Bachelor’s degree in area relevant to role for Level V.
  • Typically, twenty years of experience in a relevant role required for Level IV and 15 years for Level V.
  • Procedure Professional Association (PPA) certified or able to complete certification in first year.
  • Experience communicating complex technical topics to non-technical stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • Expert knowledge and experience creating infographics such as diagrams, screenshots, workflows, graphs, etc. is required.
  • Expertise in regulatory and administrative requirements affecting procedures and ability to determine the technical requirements that apply to procedures by examining Quality System Manuals and Regulatory Guidance.

Job Profile Tasks/Responsibilities:

  • Edit other writers' content and documentation for consistency and continuously update content with current information.
  • Prepare and coordinate procedure reviews and comment resolution.
  • Ensure procedures can be performed as written through verification and validation.
  • Ensure technical and engineering documents such as diagrams, charts, blueprints, and specifications are reviewed and accurately integrated into procedures when appropriate.
  • Ensure technical documents are properly entered into document control and configuration management systems.
  • Perform periodic reviews of existing procedures and other documents in response to technical changes or management direction.
  • Contribute to development of documentation formats for procedures, forms, templates, reports, logs, etc.
  • Collaborate with various groups (safety, regulatory, engineering, quality, training, and operations) to develop training documents for delivery of consistent training material.
  • Generate technical materials, including installation guides, operator manuals, and Standard Operating Procedures/Guidelines for the assigned technology/project.
  • Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
