Job summary

Cygnus Professionals Inc. is seeking an experienced Hardware Engineering Program Manager to lead the Android XR glasses platform development in the San Jose area.

You will drive tactical execution and set the strategy for the team, coordinating across engineering, operations, and external partners. The role requires 5+ years in hardware PM or design engineering, familiarity with product development life cycles, and willingness to travel internationally up to 20%.

Responsibilities

• Manage development of Android XR glasses hardware platforms and drive tactical execution and strategy.

• Drive product development processes and phase gate reviews with the cross-functional teams.
• Develop and manage program schedules and resource needs with engineering and operations teams.
• Communicate project status to stakeholders and leadership.
• Lead resolution on key technical issues.
• Interface with development partners and cross functional engineering and operations teams driving builds and managing build schedules, budgets, and performance.
• Proactively implement process improvements to streamline product development.
• Influence and drive strategic JDM partner development efforts and establish long term partnerships.

• Lead cross-functional teams to design, build, validate, and launch system solutions
• Manage development risks and issues to meet system build milestones, cost, and manufacturability.
• Drive product development processes and phase gate reviews with the cross-functional teams.
• Develop and manage program schedules and resource needs with engineering and operations teams.
• Communicate project status to stakeholders and leadership.

• BS degree in Engineering
• 5 years of hardware engineering program management, team lead and/or product design engineering experience.
• Consumer Electronics hardware experience
• Experience in product development and phase gate approach
• Experience in hardware NPI build management
• Ability to travel internationally up to 20% as required.

• Note: Having as many of these specific qualifications is a plus, but transferable skills/experiences may be equally valuable
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strong team player and creative thinker who is able to lead technical teams, cross-functional groups, and vendors against plans
• Fearless ability to jump in, drive several tasks at once, and generally do whatever it takes to ship a product
• Experience shipping high volume / high-quality product
• Strong ability to capture the big picture quickly and focus on key points
• Passion for improving processes, plans, and all things that are simply broken
• Excellent knowledge of product life cycle, tools, processes and operations planning
