Job summary

HealthLeap in San Francisco, hybrid-friendly, seeks a product manager to convert clinician insights into product decisions and drive delivery across the company.

You will take clinician problems from unclear requests to working results, coordinating data feeds, APIs, and prototypes while keeping customers, success, and engineering aligned.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in product management, including taking a product from 0 to 1 and into users’ hands.
• Strong organization and project management across teams when plans change.
• Clear communication with customers and engineers, in writing and speaking.
• Hands-on experience with technical products: read SQL, API docs, data flows, and debug.
• Ability to discuss architecture and tradeoffs with engineers and translate to precise product decisions.

About the role

You'll bring customer evidence into those decisions, shape the scope, and drive delivery across the company.

Some work starts with clinicians describing a problem we have not solved before. Other work expands a product that an existing customer already uses. You'll help take both from an unclear request to a working result, keeping customers and engineers aligned along the way.

What you'll do

• Speak with clinicians, understand their workflows, and help take new products from 0 to 1.

• Shape and deliver feature expansions for existing customers, then learn from how they use what shipped.

• Coordinate changes such as a new data feed specification or FHIR API across hospital teams, customer success, and engineering. Keep owners, dependencies, decisions, and deadlines clear.

• Build working prototypes with AI coding tools so customers and engineers can test ideas early.

• Investigate product questions yourself: write SQL, inspect API requests and responses, trace data through a workflow, and identify where expected and actual behavior differ.

• Write requirements that cover system behavior, edge cases, failure modes, and how we will verify the result. Work through implementation tradeoffs with engineers.

• Communicate progress, risks, and changed expectations before anyone has to ask.

What we’re looking for

• 3+ years in product management, including helping take a product from 0 to 1 and into users’ hands.

• Strong organization and project management. You follow through across teams, even when plans change.

• Clear communication with customers and engineers, in writing and in conversation.

• Hands-on experience with technical products. You can write and review SQL, read API documentation and sample payloads, understand data flows, and investigate a technical issue before asking an engineer to take over.

• The ability to discuss architecture, constraints, and tradeoffs with engineers and turn those conversations into precise product decisions. You have done this on a product that shipped.

• The ability to build and test a useful prototype with AI coding tools.

What will make you stand out

• Healthcare or clinical product experience.

• Experience delivering products with enterprise customers.

• Startup experience spanning product discovery and delivery.

This role is NOT for you if

• You want to manage a backlog without speaking to users.

• You prefer to hand technical investigation and system questions straight to engineers.

Compensation and benefits

• $160,000-$250,000 base plus meaningful equity

Location

San Francisco, in person. The default is every day, with a rule of thumb of about 32 hours a week in the office. When you need to work from home, post "wfh today" in Slack. No tracking or approvals. We judge output, not hours.
