Job summary

HealthLeap is seeking a Head of Technical Implementation to lead hospital deployments from requirements through go-live and stabilization. You will partner with hospital clinical leaders, IT teams, and executives alongside our engineers, growing the implementation function as the company scales.

Live at 40+ hospitals, you will translate clinician needs into concrete requirements, test data feeds and endpoints, and craft playbooks to improve future launches in our SF-based, hybrid-friendly

About the role

Get HealthLeap working in hospitals, all the way through to clinical use.

We build AI that helps clinicians find patients who need attention. We’re live at 40+ hospitals, and each one brings different systems, data, workflows, and people who need to make a launch happen.

You’ll own deployments from the first requirements conversation through go-live and stabilization, working directly with hospital clinical leaders, IT teams, and executives alongside our engineers. You’ll start as a senior individual contributor and build the implementation team as we grow.

What you’ll do

• Lead several hospital deployments at once. Set the plan, clarify owners and decisions, manage dependencies, and keep dates and risks visible.

• Work with clinicians and hospital teams to understand the workflow and turn an unclear request into requirements and acceptance criteria.

• Independently test endpoints and inspect data feeds, API responses, and SQL extracts. Check what arrives against the specification and against what clinicians need to see.

• Work with engineers on gaps that need product or integration changes. Bring specific evidence, agree on tradeoffs, and keep the hospital informed.

• Lead go-live readiness, resolve issues during launch, verify the result downstream, and support stabilization.

• Turn lessons from each hospital into playbooks, processes, and product requirements so the next deployment goes better.

What we’re looking for

• 5+ years leading complex, customer-facing software implementations or technical product delivery, including launches with multiple teams on the customer’s side.

• Exceptional project management. You run concurrent work, surface risks early, get decisions made, and follow through without anyone chasing you.

• Exceptional communication. You can work a technical issue with an analyst, a workflow decision with a clinician, and a change of plan with an executive.

• Hands‑on technical judgment. You write SQL, read API documentation and sample payloads, trace a data flow, and verify delivered behavior yourself.

• Experience turning an ambiguous customer need into a first working implementation.

What will make you stand out

• You’ve led implementations involving Epic, Cerner, or another EHR, or worked inside a hospital’s EHR environment.

• You’ve delivered integrations involving HL7, FHIR, or other clinical data exchange.

• You’ve built an implementation process that made later launches more reliable.

This role is NOT for you if

• You’ve led implementations without getting technical yourself. You’ve run launches through status meetings, trackers, and handoffs, and relied on engineers for every check against the data. Here you open the payload, run the query, and confirm the result yourself.

• You want the structure of a bigger company. You’re looking for defined process, a team to delegate to, and clear scope from day one. You’d be building the process that doesn’t exist yet, deciding with incomplete information, and doing the work yourself for a while.

• You want predictable 9-to-5 hours. We protect deep rest, but a hospital go-live can mean a 60+ hour week.

3. Technical exercise: investigate a hospital data feed and tell us what’s wrong with it

4. Onsite with the team in San Francisco

We decide the same week as the onsite.

Compensation and benefits

• $180,000–$250,000 base plus meaningful equity

• 100% covered healthcare premiums

• Unlimited PTO with a 20-day minimum

Location

San Francisco, in person. We work together in the office by default, with flexibility to work from home when needed. We judge output, not hours.
