Job description

The Broadway sensation WICKED looks at what happened in the Land of Oz…but from a different angle. Winner of over 100 international awards including the Grammy Award and three Tony Awards, WICKED has been performed in over 100 cities in 16 countries around the world. WICKED has been running on Broadway for over 22 years.


POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Assistant Electrician assists the Head Electrician in the safe and consistent running and maintaining of all lighting elements associated with the Broadway production of WICKED and executes all deck or follow spot cues required for each performance. Please note that this is a sub position so consistent employment is not guaranteed. The sub will train for a minimum of 4 performances, and will be called for work on an as-needed basis thereafter.


ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Running the deck electrics or follow spot tracks for the show under the supervision of the Production Stage Manager. This includes the electrics pre-set and check out prior to the show and all applicable lighting cues during the performance.
  2. Working with the Head Electrician to perform as-needed maintenance of show-owned equipment and systems.
  3. Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues with lighting.
  4. Working collaboratively and safely within the electrics team, other departments and local house crew.
  5. Attending rehearsals on an as-needed basis, as directed by the Head Electrician.


QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Detail-oriented, willing to complete both complex and menial repetitive tasks with exacting precision.
  • Technical Theatre experience, and two years’ backstage experience with a focus on lighting.
  • Competency with basic electrical troubleshooting and repair, including soldering.
  • Team player, able to work long hours in very close quarters with many different types of passionate personalities.
  • Must be able to work around loud sounds and flashing lights.
  • Willingness to work in dark often cramped/ closed spaces.
  • Able to physically lift 60 pounds, comfortable lifting and walking backwards, comfortable walking up and down stairs.
  • Be able to work safely at heights up to 30’.
  • Comfortable scaling a 10 foot straight ladder into an enclosed space.
  • Excellent practical, problem-solving, organizational, planning, time management and communication skills.
  • Good computer skills (Mac and PC) are important.
  • At least 3 references required.


SALARY: Training Salary: $262.50 per performance; Sub Salary: $350.00 per performance + All Applicable Overtime Per Full Pink Contract
