The Assistant Technical Director is responsible for the construction of scenery and for assisting the Technical Director in scenic operations of the theatre. Responsibilities include:
-Carpentry and metal fabrication of scenic elements which may also include paint and treatments on a show-by-show basis.
-Rigging and flying of scenery
-Assisting the TD with scenic department planning and logistics including scheduling, drafting, brainstorming, etc.
-Installation, designer notes, and maintenance of scenic elements
-Care and upkeep of shop and stage equipment.
-Oversight and organization of scene shop, scene dock, and stage with an eye towards safety, cleanliness, and efficiency.
-Assist with other programs, events, Education, or special needs of DTC, including but not limited to, the Delaware Young Playwrights Festival, Totally Awesome Players, Totally Awesome Players 2, and Summer on Stage.
-Facilities upkeep and upgrades in line with available skillset and time
-Assist the TD in managing budgets for the Season, including submitting expense reports, organizing receipts and maintaining shadow books
-Assist the TD in organizing scenic department files
-Regularly draft scenic elements in AutoCAD
-Drive rental trucks up to 25’ in length as well as the company van to facilitate lumber purchases and scenic element transportation
-Have comfortability working in high places
-All staff are required to attend Opening nights and select Education performances
