Job description

News10 Albany New York is hiring a full-time Technical Media Operator. The Technical Media Operator has four primary tasks: Newscast Directing, Newscast Audio Operator, Media Center Operator, and Master Control Operator.

  1. Operates studio cameras and field cameras for live and taped events.
  2. Composes and frames shots, applying the technical aspects of light, lenses, and camera settings to achieve the effects sought by directors, station management, and other personnel.
  3. Adjusts positions and controls of cameras to change focus, exposure, and lighting as requested by directors, station management, and other personnel.
  4. Operates audio equipment for live and taped events.
  5. Operates computer editing systems, electronic titling systems, video switching equipment, and digital video effects units to produce a final product.

Additional responsibilities include:

  1. Collaborating with the director and studio staff to coordinate the action in the studio.
  2. Building and decorating the set and/or providing props used for production.
  3. Assisting in the installation, operation, and maintenance of sound recording equipment.
  4. Operating studio graphic systems during broadcast/production.
  5. Providing audio production support as needed and working with outside production facilities.
  6. Assisting in digital media productions, liaising with appropriate departments.
  7. Converting analog recordings, film, or printed materials to digital format.
  8. Maintaining and storing equipment, records, and tapes.
Requirements & Skills:
  • Degree in Communication or related field, or equivalent training and/or experience.
  • Experience in television, film, or post-production preferred but not required.
  • Ability to interact well with video journalists, anchors, videographers, news managers, production, and engineering staff.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
Benefits:

Salary Range: $15.50 - $16.50.
