Technical Manager, Transportation Engineering P.E.

Lead and contribute design expertise on transportation planning and design projects in a dynamic, fast-paced team-oriented environment. Review and certify engineering documents to meet quality control goals and standards of care. Lead and mentor engineering and technician staff on transportation planning and or design tasks. Incorporate the latest technology and innovation into projects. Manage the quality control process for deliverables. Interface with client’s and/or teaming partners technical managers. Produce construction documents, specifications, and construction cost estimates is a plus. Understand AASHTO and FHWA Design Standards and other design manuals and guidelines, including NCDOT Plan Development Process.

Required Skills and Experience

• Must have a minimum of 8+ years of experience in transportation/roadway engineering supporting North Carolina State (NCDOT) and/or local municipalities.
• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited engineering program.
• Eagerness and passion for leading complex and routine highway design projects and creating lasting technical solutions.
• Expertise in Microstation / Geopak / InRoads / Open Roads and/or AutoCAD / Civil 3D and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Willingness to teach and mentor design staff on the technical aspects of roadway design projects.
