Job summary

BODYARMOR Sports Nutrition in Atlanta, GA, seeks a Technical Manager – Packaging to lead packaging engineering across co-packers and to oversee primary, secondary and tertiary packaging. You will optimize materials, design, and handling systems while coordinating with BODYARMOR HQ and external vendors.

The role requires deep knowledge of beverage packaging, pasteurization, and line optimization, with significant travel (50–75%).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, chemical, or packaging engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing and beverage process design including batching, pasteurization, filling, bottling, conveyance, and packaging.
• Experience with hot fill, cold fill, retort and aseptic packaging.
• Strong technical understanding of pasteurization and beverage processing; cross-disciplinary knowledge.
• Ability to write clear protocols and reports and ensure alignment with practices and policies.
• Position requires substantial travel (50–75%).

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for packaging across BODYARMOR co-packers and suppliers.
• Evaluate lines and ensure capabilities to process BODYARMOR products.
• Create, maintain, and update packaging specifications and test protocols.
• Lead packaging trials and coordinate with co-pack facilities, OEMs, vendors, and BODYARMOR HQ.
• Document and report trial results; drive decisions from data.
• Support co-packers and engineering for operations and line efficiency improvements.
• Knowledgable about primary packaging materials (PET, PP, PE, aluminum, glass).
• Propose new technologies and practices to improve profitability and compliance.
• Manage multiple projects to meet milestones and deadlines.
• Drive productivity through value engineering across can, bottle, carton formats.

BODYARMOR is looking for a Technical Manager – Packaging – to join our team.

TheTechnical Manager – Packagingwill provide a broad range of packaging engineering expertise and technical leadership to support all BODYARMOR’s copacker locations and to oversee all aspects of primary secondary and tertiary packaging and material handling. This position requires expertise in product packaging materials new package design equipment and systems optimization continuous improvement and handling technical aspects. This position will report to the Director of Engineering and Industrialization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for line evaluations and ensuring capabilities to process BODYARMOR products. Provide technical support and material qualifications for all new product launches (i.e. can powderstickpack bottle cap label tray case/pallet pattern etc.).
• Responsibilities will include creating maintaining and updating packaging specifications and test protocols.
• Create plans and lead packaging trials performed at co-packers. Coordinate with co-pack facilities OEMs and vendors along with BODYARMOR HQ. Lead the documentation and reporting of the results.
• Provide operational support for co-packers and Engineering: troubleshooting operational improvement and line efficiency improvement etc.
• Have k nowledge across primary packaging materials including PET PP PE aluminum steel and glass.
• Maintain a high level of awareness of current and emerging technologies in packaging with respect to equipment engineering design regulatory requirements and make recommendations on their application to improve profitability of operations.
• Concurrently manage and support multiple projects ensuring timely and successful completion of activities to meet project milestones.
• Drive short- & long-term productivity through value engineering initiatives across a wide range of package materials and structures (cans powderstickpacks bottles closures and cartons etc.) to meet business objectives.
• Assist other departments as needed while onsite at co-manufacturing facilities. (i.e. Audits Inspections Cycle Counts etc.).

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree required specialization in mechanical engineering chemical engineering or packaging engineering is required
• Must have 5+ years of experience in manufacturing and beverage process design principles including a combination of batching pasteurization filling bottling conveyance case packing cartoning and palletizing required
• Experience with hot fill cold fill retort and aseptic packaging required
• Strong technical understanding of pasteurization and beverage processing and has good understanding of other disciplines within the function
• Ability to write protocols and reports clearly and concisely and in a timely manner
• Ensure concurrence of other parties on practices policies and procedures
• Position requires substantial travel 50 – 75% Travel by car and plane
• Must hold a valid driver’s license and be able to drive long distances at times
• Motor Vehicle Records must satisfy Company standards per Driving Policy
