Job Title: Technical Manager

Job Summary

The Technical Manager plays a vital role, ensuring that all the fun and magic is being delivered at an optimal level. Daily, the Technical Manager is responsible for planned and reactive maintenance throughout the attraction to ensure the day-to-day operation is running smoothly, safely, and efficiently. With a team of technicians, the Technical Manager is responsible for ensuring adequate coverage during all opening times to maintain all aspects of the attraction including the rides, cinema, equipment, and machinery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot all aspects of the physical plant/facility equipment and machinery including HVAC, electrical, electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, and plumbing systems as well as rides and themed attractions.
  • Utilize hands‑on knowledge and experience to solve problems to sustain minimal downtime of rides and themed attractions for the maximum guest experience.
  • Position functions will include re‑lamping & lighting systems, painting and wall repair, food and beverage equipment, rides maintenance, oversight of custodial duties, shipping and receiving as well as exhibit setup and takedown.
  • Ensure all statutory equipment periodic inspections are arranged and all in‑house inspection regimes are implemented or developed and subsequently implemented if found necessary.
  • Ensure all follow‑up recommendations are carried out with immediate effect and that all relevant paperwork and signoffs are completed.
  • Effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high‑pressure, tight budget environment.
  • Prepare, monitor, and maintain an environment of continuous improvement through operational action plans and operating budgets.
  • Build, manage, and motivate a strong, competent team by developing employees to their full potential and by creating a culture of quality and achievement.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED. Two years of technical college preferred. Minimum of three years managerial experience in a technical/themed environment. Specific areas to include animation, automation, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical/electronics, and networks, or equivalent combination of experience and education. Experience in a guest centric service industry is preferred. Self‑motivated with previous maintenance experience, ideally holding a professional qualification in a mechanical or electrical field with experience maintaining a wide range of equipment, including rides. Experience of maintaining flexibility and the highest level of service in high‑pressure and/or stressful situations. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and multi‑task as necessary. Desire to work in fast‑paced environments. A natural team leader with a confident, assertive but approachable personality. Enthusiastic, boundless, and infectious energy about business and the ability to enthuse others.

Licenses and Certifications

Ability to obtain related licensures or certification as may be required to perform the essential function of the position or as required by law.

Travel Requirements

May occasionally require local or domestic travel.

Health and Safety

They must ensure that risk assessments have been carried out, that safe working procedures are in place for all work activities and that all employees in their teams are aware of the Group Health, Safety and Security Policy and their obligations under it. They must ensure that safe working practices are monitored, and that risk assessments and procedures are reviewed regularly. Where incidents do occur, they must ensure that they are investigated appropriately and that where necessary, corrective action is taken to ensure that such incidents are not repeated.

Environmental Factors
  • Depending on location, work may be performed inside or outside with varying temperatures and floor surfaces.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures, extreme heat or cold, and/or wet, damp, or drafty conditions.
  • Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds of a pitch level sufficient to cause marked distractions.
  • Exposure to shaking objects and equipment.
  • Exposure to varying light levels while transitioning in and out of the attraction at various times of the workday.
Lifting Requirements

May be required to lift or carry items weighing up to 70 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
