Next Level HVAC Energy Management Systems in California seeks a Technical Manager to lead a team of technicians, control labor hours, and drive on-time, on-budget project delivery. Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Certificate of Completion, bachelor’s degree or education/courses in related field is preferred.
  • 5+ years of Building Automation Systems, HVAC controls, or related experience.
  • Strong knowledge of BAS programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, and system integration.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, electrical drawings, sequence of operation, BACnet, Modbus, and IP networking.
  • Previous technical leadership, supervisory, or mentoring experience preferred.
  • Proficient communication, interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Must be proficient in MS Office Suite, specifically Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Perform complex and repetitive tasks.
  • Maintain a fast work pace and high-volume workload
  • A positive and professional attitude and strong customer service skills

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct supervision technically and developmentally for assigned employees.
  • Provides input to sales and operations regarding the technical and business considerations for construction or direct owner projects.
  • Determines if customer expectations are aligned with NXL’s and if these can be achieved based upon NXL’s estimate or contractual scope.
  • Recommends technical solutions to sales and operations.
  • Identifies change order opportunities, expansion of services and coordinates with sales to document, pursue, and book them.
  • Provide support to NXL and other contractors to solve building operating issues that go beyond the controls or special systems operation.
  • Communicate with internal employees as required to ensure NXL’s labor is accurate and timely and estimated productivity is achieved in all areas.
  • Provide leadership and input to others as requested or required to assist in the accurate estimation, design, installation, start up, commissioning, and training for building systems.
  • Communicate with external organizations as required such as consulting engineers, building owners, and other contractors to ensure accurate and timely engineering, as required.
  • Reviews all engineered submittals ensuring adherence to scope and customer expectations as well as location standards, as required.
  • Works with direct reports to assist them in their development of personal goals. Reviews these goals with direct reports throughout the year and provides annual reviews as well as administration of salaries for these direct reports.
  • Responsible for the Safety and Field Labor on Project assigned.
  • Lead by example in a professional workmanlike manor, role model for crew, challenge all employees to achieve excellence.
  • Conduct pre-employment interviews with all applicants for hire, hiring only qualified candidates.
  • Report all accidents, injuries, near misses to NXL Safety Department.
  • Operate and promote safe working on site.
  • Ensure the completion of works on time and within budget.
  • Responsibilities and other duties may be assigned.

Job description

The Technical Manager leads a team of technicians to execute assigned projects effectively and efficiently. They shall manage the technical labor hours on each project to ensure they are kept within budget. They shall take ownership of the growth and development of their direct reports.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Essential Functions
  • Be able to lift and carry ladders, drawings, personal computers, material, etc.
  • Be able to spend significant time standing and walking on construction sites.
  • Be able to climb several flights of stairs or ladders throughout a typical day on a construction site.
  • Maintain a satisfactory driving record which, per Next Level’s vehicle policy, allows the individual to drive a company vehicle.
  • Be able to drive to and from job sites as required.
  • Be able to work night shifts as required.
  • Be physically able to kneel, stoop and crawl.
