Job summary

Westland Real Estate Group is seeking a Technical Maintenance Trainer (Multifamily) in Las Vegas, NV. This on-site role trains field teams in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and appliance repair, while developing SOPs and certification coaching.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years hands-on diagnostic and repair experience on HVAC systems and appliances (GE, Hotpoint, etc.).
  • Ability to train others in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and maintenance topics.
  • EPA Type II or Universal certifications are required.

Responsibilities

  • Teach hands-on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and appliance repair to field teams.
  • Lead training sessions in classroom, virtual, and on-site settings across the Las Vegas area.
  • Deliver bilingual instruction in English and Spanish to ensure team alignment.
  • Create SOPs and quick-reference checklists for turn/make-ready and routine service requests.
  • Coach technicians for industry credentials (EPA Universal, CAMT).
  • Mentor senior maintenance supervisors and lead technicians to enable site training.
  • Identify skill gaps across properties and provide targeted remediation to improve Make-Ready and Service Response times.
  • Set learning goals, track progress, and report on success metrics.

Salary Range: $62,000 - $80,000 per year

Travel: Approximately 30% (California and Texas)

About The Role

Are you a master Maintenance Technician ready to step off the day-to-day tools and train the next generation? As our Technical Maintenance Trainer, you will step into a dynamic hybrid role that bridges corporate strategy with hands‑on field execution. You will balance dedicated desk time for conducting needs assessments and designing training materials with frequent work side‑by‑side with our service teams across the Las Vegas area, as well as additional travel across our California and Texas regions, as needed.

In this hands‑on role, you will lead practical, unit-level training in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and appliance repair. You’ll serve as a mentor, help technicians earn industry certifications, and build clear, step‑by‑step SOPs that make daily maintenance tasks faster and easier for field teams.

What You Will Do
  • Teach hands‑on skills in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and appliance repair to our field teams in alignment with industry requirements, safety standards, and Westland’s organizational processes.
  • Lead training sessions in person in a classroom setting, virtually, hands‑on, side‑by‑side technical training sessions at apartment communities to sharpen technicians' diagnostic and repair skills.
  • Bilingual Instruction: Deliver clear, engaging instruction in both English and Spanish to ensure full team alignment.
  • SOP & Checklist Creation: Translate complex technical manuals into easy, step‑by‑step Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and quick‑reference checklists for turn/make‑ready and routine service requests.
  • Certification Coaching: Prepare technicians for industry credentials and serve as an internal proctor for EPA Universal and CAMT certifications.
  • Train‑the‑Trainer: Mentor senior maintenance supervisors and lead technicians so they can effectively coach their own site teams.
  • Performance Support: Identify technical skill gaps across regional properties and provide targeted remediation to improve Make‑Ready efficiency and Service Response times.
  • Assesses opportunities for learning programs for continued improvement, set goals, and establishes metrics for success.
  • Establishes and maintains solid working rapport with business unit leaders.
  • Stays current on industry and company standards.
  • Performs administrative activities related to the Learning and Development function.
Required Qualifications

Essential Basic Skills and Requirement

  • 5+ years of hands‑on, expert‑level experience diagnosing and repairing 410A/R22 HVAC systems, electrical panels, and common appliances (GE, Hotpoint, etc.).
  • Ability to train others in areas such as product expertise in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other facets of property management maintenance.
Preferred Experience
  • Prior experience mentoring, leading field crews, or delivering adult trade instruction.
  • Industry certifications such as CAMT, CPO, or trade school credentials in HVAC/Electrical.
  • Experience using property management platforms like Entrata or Entrata Facilities App.
Education
  • Hold relevant EPA Type II or Universal (I, II, and III) certification, required
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or trade certification in a relevant field (e.g., plumbing, HVAC, electrical), preferred.

  • Research and identify relevant industry certifications (e.g., EPA certification for refrigerant handling, Certified Apartment Maintenance Technician (CAMT), etc.) that align with company needs and industry best practices.
  • Coordinate and facilitate certification testing, providing support and guidance throughout the process.
  • Track and monitor certification attainment and renewal, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to motivate and engage learners of various skill levels.

  • This role requires travel approximately 30% of the time, primarily to California and Texas divisions within the assigned portfolio.
  • A valid driver’s license, proof of automobile insurance, and reliable personal transportation are required for travel to various work locations.
  • Overnight travel may be required for training, meetings, and other business needs.
