Job summary

Jet Propulsion Laboratory seeks a Training Center Lead to design, develop, and deliver advanced technical training. You will upgrade courseware, facilities, and infrastructure, guiding multiple modalities—from classroom to virtual learning—while partnering with SMEs to tailor content.

You will mentor staff, oversee instructional effectiveness, and participate in institution-wide training initiatives to strengthen workforce capability.

Responsibilities

• To lead a team that is responsible for providing instructional support and certification to operators, inspectors and instructors and develop competency in the NASA workmanship standards.
• You will also be responsible for leading the Training Center’s strategic development and implementation plan to upgrade courseware, facilities and infrastructure for technical training classes and will be responsible for instructional design and development using the ADDIE model.
• Design, develop, and deliver complex technical training in one or more technical areas using established instructional system design methods (e.g., ADDIE).
• Design curriculum for technical training programs supporting NASA workmanship standards.
• Leverage existing templates and tools to implement instructor-led and multimedia learning methods.
• Partner with subject matter experts (SMEs) to customize, standardize, and deliver complex internal course material.
• Deliver technical training across multiple modalities (classroom, virtual, blended).
• Analyze learning needs using standard instructional design techniques and contribute to learning assessments and reports.
• Support organizational development activities related to training effectiveness and workforce capability.
• Contribute to mentoring and coaching efforts by supporting instructors, inspectors, and operators in skill development.
• Participate in institutional programs in coordination with other training personnel.
• Lead project-level training efforts or defined components of larger training initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field with 6 years of related experience, or Master’s degree with 4 years of related experience.
• Demonstrated ability to design and deliver complex technical training.
• Experience delivering instruction in group and one-on-one environments.
• Advanced working knowledge in one or more of the following: Electrical, mechanical, electro-mechanical, or optical manufacturing NASA workmanship standards.
• General experience in manufacturing, quality assurance, or process improvement.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and procedures.
• Prior experience supporting workmanship training in areas such as: Soldering Cabling / Harnessing Polymeric Applications Mechanical Assembly.
• General knowledge of laboratory policies and procedures, NASA policies, and applicable government regulations.
• IPC certifications (J-STD-001, A-620, A-600) and/or NASA Instructional Certification(s) is strongly desired (ex. 8739.1, 8739.4, 8739.5).
