Job summary

Apple Inc. Worldwide Events and Experiences seeks a Technical Lead, Technical Production to architect and deliver the technical backbone for live events, product launches, and activations.

You will own fiber, network, LED, audio, lighting, and power systems, and guide a team through on-site execution with executive-facing stakeholders. You will design signal flow drawings, coordinate with venues and partners, manage budgets, scope, and vendors, and travel globally as needed.

The team includes professionals with backgrounds in event design, management, operations, broadcast, and production. We're looking for inventive and collaborative people from a variety of creative and technical fields.We're seeking a Technical Lead, Technical Production to lead the technical infrastructure and systems backbone for live events and activations, including concerts, corporate events, and global product moments. This role owns the critical technical systems - fiber, LED, comms, network, audio, lighting, camera, and power - that make large-scale, no-fail live productions possible.

Description

The Technical Lead, Technical Production will lead the strategy, design, and execution of core technical systems supporting live events and activations across Worldwide Events. This role owns end-to-end infrastructure planning - from fiber backbone and network drops to LED wall routing/switching, comms systems, live audio and lighting systems, camera systems, and power design - ensuring every show runs on a resilient, well-documented, and scalable technical foundation.You will be the technical authority responsible for producing signal flow and infrastructure drawings, coordinating with venue and vendor partners, and leading a team through the planning and on-site execution of complex, high-visibility live events. This role requires deep technical expertise across broadcast, AV infrastructure, IP-based media transport, power systems, technical design, and the ability to operate flawlessly under executive-facing, no-fail conditions.

Responsibilities
  • Lead technical infrastructure planning and execution for live events and activations, including concerts, corporate events, and global product launches.
  • Design, document, and manage fiber runs and network topology across event sites, including redundant paths and failover planning.
  • Own LED wall systems architecture, including routing and switching design, processor configuration, and signal distribution to ensure reliability and visual fidelity.
  • Design and manage comms systems (wired and wireless intercom, IFB, RF coordination) to support production, stage management, and crew communication across large venues.
  • Plan and deploy network drops and IP infrastructure across event spaces, coordinating with venue and IT partners on connectivity, VLANs, and bandwidth requirements.
  • Oversee live audio systems architecture, including Dante network design and troubleshooting, signal routing, and support for spatial/immersive audio formats.
  • Lead lighting infrastructure planning, including lighting power distribution, and operation/programming oversight of consoles such as grandMA, ensuring safe and reliable power for lighting rigs.
  • Support camera system planning across productions, including spatial capture formats and workflows, ensuring appropriate format, routing, and signal integration into the broader show infrastructure.
  • Lead power design and management for large-scale shows, including load calculations, distribution planning, UPS backup systems, generator sizing and coordination, and failover/redundancy strategy for mission-critical systems.
  • Create and maintain detailed signal flow drawings and technical documentation for all event systems, serving as the single source of truth for vendors, crew, and stakeholders.
  • Partner with the larger Technical Production and Broadcast team to align infrastructure design with overall execution strategy, including SMPTE ST 2110 and IP-based media workflows.
  • Lead location/venue technical surveys, assessing power availability, network access, rigging points, and infrastructure readiness.
  • Manage relationships with fiber, network, power, LED, audio, and lighting vendors, including scoping, quoting, and on-site coordination.
  • Build, lead, and mentor a technical production team, establishing clear roles, responsibilities, and on-site protocols.
  • Own budgeting and forecasting for technical infrastructure across assigned events, including vendor management and cost optimization.
  • Drive continuous improvement of technical standards, documentation templates, and infrastructure playbooks across the organization.
  • Willingness and ability to travel globally as required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in technical production, broadcast engineering, or systems integration for live events, concerts, or corporate productions.
  • Demonstrated expertise designing and deploying fiber, power and network infrastructure for live events, including redundancy and failover planning.
  • Deep knowledge of LED display systems, including routing, switching, processor configuration (e.g., Megapixel, ROE, Barco), and signal distribution.
  • Proven experience designing and managing comms/intercom systems (e.g., Clear-Com, RTS) and RF coordination for large-scale productions.
  • Strong knowledge of live audio systems, including Dante network design/troubleshooting and support for spatial/immersive audio formats.
  • Familiarity with lighting power distribution and lighting consoles such as grandMA.
  • Working knowledge of camera systems and formats, including spatial capture workflows.
  • Understanding of SMPTE ST 2110 and IP-based video/audio transport workflows, including network infrastructure (VLANs, switches, routing).
  • Strong understanding of power distribution for live events, including load balancing, UPS systems, generator backup, and failover design.
  • Proficiency creating signal flow and system architecture drawings using tools such as Vectorworks, AutoCAD, or Visio.
  • Proven ability to lead technical execution in high-pressure, executive-facing, no-fail environments.
  • Experience leading venue technical surveys and assessing infrastructure feasibility across diverse locations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional and vendor teams, translating complex technical concepts into clear communication.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting global keynote events, concerts, or large-scale corporate productions.
  • Familiarity with broadcast infrastructure and live streaming/encoding workflows.
  • Experience working in highly confidential environments with strict security and quality standards.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with strong ability to influence and align stakeholders across disciplines.
  • Comfort operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $186,300 and $280,000, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
