Job summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific's Global Central Laboratory in Highland Heights, KY is seeking a Technical Lead to coordinate sample events, supervise staff, and ensure robust sample handling and protocol validity in a dynamic lab environment.

The position is fully onsite with a Second Shift (Afternoons), Tuesday–Saturday, 4:00PM–12:30AM ET. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and pass a background check, including drug screening.

Qualifications

• High / Secondary school diploma or equivalent with relevant formal qualifications.
• Approximately 6 years of related experience.
• Equivalency may be considered for suitable candidates.

What You'll Do:

Our Technical Leads coordinate major sample events, directing sample management and laboratory staff in a functional area. Deciphers complex protocols and ensures the validity of sample requests and adherence to secure and robust sample handling processes in a dynamic environment. Supports risk assessment and design of sample handling practices.

• Perform any or all Sample Coordinator functions, including oversight and execution of a variety of complex standard and sample tasks (receipt, accessioning, routing, storage, aliquoting, shipping, discard, destruction, etc.) in support of the Sample Management department.
• Act as back-up in the absence of management and serve as a technical liaison for project-specific sample management procedures.
• Respond to environmental unit alarms and participate in on-call responsibilities.
• Perform work assignments accurately, timely, and safely.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• High / Secondary school diploma or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification
• Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 6 years).

In some cases an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.
