Job summary

Google is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager in Mountain View to lead growth initiatives and oversee the Search Growth Platform. You will guide the engineering teams across multiple domains, shaping product strategy and ensuring successful delivery of AI-powered features at scale.

You will manage a team of engineers, contribute to roadmap planning, and collaborate with Product, UX, and adjacent teams to align on shared goals, while maintaining high standards of engineering

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of software development experience.
• 3 years of full stack development across backend and frontend technologies.
• 3 years in a technical leadership role.
• 2 years in people management or team leadership.

• Drive growth strategies and deliver on key product goals, including adoption of new AI features and user engagement metrics.
• Lead the design and delivery of the Search Growth Platform’s next-generation AI engine to optimize the end-to-end user lifecycle.
• Manage, mentor, and grow a team of software engineers while guiding their career development.
• Cultivate a culture of engineering excellence to solve complex technical problems.
• Build user-facing features and foundational infrastructure for user engagement with rapid experimentation.

Job description

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 3 years of experience with full stack development, across back-end such as Java, Python, Golang, or C++ codebases, and front-end experience including JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS or equivalent.
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
• 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
• 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
• Experience driving technical initiatives from concept to launch, authoring design documents, and prioritizing roadmaps using a data-driven approach.
• Experience partnering with Product, UX, and adjacent engineering teams to deliver shared goals.
