Job summary
SQA Services seeks a Technical Lead - First Article Inspection & Metrology to support two supplier readiness assessments at a casting supplier and a custom worm gear manufacturer. You will lead FAI activities, CMM programming, dimensional metrology, calibration, and MSA, and contribute to the final assessment report.
Required: Bachelor’s degree in engineering (or 10+ years related). 7+ years in metrology/quality inspection, hands-on CMM programming (PC-DMIS/Calypso), and expert GD&T (ASME
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent with 10+ years related experience.
- 7+ years in dimensional metrology, quality engineering, or precision inspection.
- Hands-on CMM programming and validation using PC-DMIS or Calypso.
- Expert GD&T / ASME Y14.5 knowledge including datum frames.
- Experience preparing/reviewing AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports.
- Experience planning and interpreting MSA/Gauge R&R studies (AIAG).
- Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 concepts and measurement traceability.
- Willingness to travel for full two-day onsite assessments.
Responsibilities
- Support RCR covering product definition, GD&T, KC, and inspection/test plans.
- Lead reviews of FAIRs for completeness and linkage to certs.
- Evaluate FAI triggers and delta-FAI practices.
- Review CMM programs for datum structure and GD&T interpretation.
- Assess measurement systems where CMMs are not used.
- Review MSA/Gauge R&R studies for critical characteristics.
- Assess casting dimensional inspection and gear inspection methods.
- Identify and report FAI and measurement-system gaps.
