Job summary

Torc Assessment is seeking a hands-on Tech Lead to act as the technical authority for one or more strategic initiatives. The role focuses heavily on backend engineering with Node.js and TypeScript, while offering occasional frontend work to support UI components.

You will define architecture, service contracts, and roadmaps, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product teams to drive secure, scalable solutions on AWS.

Qualifications

• Expert-level proficiency in TypeScript across backend and frontend.
• Extensive experience designing APIs and cloud-native architectures.
• Hands-on with AWS services (Lambda, ECS, S3).
• Familiarity with DynamoDB and security best practices.
• Experience with JWT, OAuth authentication patterns.
• Ability to mentor and lead while remaining hands-on.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical authority and lead architect for initiatives.
• Define architecture, roadmaps, and service contracts.
• Hands-on backend development with Node.js/TypeScript (~60-70%).
• Collaborate with product and stakeholders to shape scope.
• Review code and enforce engineering standards across stacks.
• Design secure, scalable, cloud-native systems in AWS.
• Balance frontend work (~30-40%) with backend focus as needed.
