Case Xchange is a newly established platform aiming to revolutionize the attorney-to-attorney case referral system. It is built for usability both within the platform and through automated integrations. By streamlining communication, automating data flow, and integrating directly with case management systems, Case Xchange eliminates inefficiencies that slow down traditional referral processes. Our mission is simple: create a seamless, transparent, and secure ecosystem where firms can exchange cases with confidence—maximizing value for clients and partners alike.
Role Overview
As our first in-house engineering hire, you will define and execute our technical roadmap while supervising contract developers. The platform is built on Node.js and hosted in AWS using Elastic Beanstalk. Knowledge of the database structure and CI/CD best practices is a must.
This is a highly hands-on role: you will write production code, test religiously, make architectural decisions, improve development velocity, and set engineering best practices, all while managing contract developers in a regular sprint cycle. You’ll partner directly with the CEO and head of product to shape the product vision and translate customer needs into scalable technology.
It is a rare opportunity to join at the ground floor and have meaningful influence on the product, culture, and trajectory of the company.

Technical Leadership
- Own the end-to-end technical strategy, architecture, and system design for the entire product.
- Translate business and product requirements into clear technical plans and milestones.
- Define engineering standards, code quality guidelines, and development workflows.
Hands-On Development/Troubleshooting
- Occasionally write clean, scalable, maintainable code across the stack (front-end, back-end, infrastructure) when needed for troubleshooting to hotfixes.
- Continue to scale the platform with reliability, performance, and security in mind.
- Provide quality assurance and regular code reviews for existing partner developers.
Team Building
- Evaluate additional contractors or vendors where needed and manage current external technical partners.
- Lead regular sprint meetings with technical partners and provide feedback to ensure they meet product expectations.
Product & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with the product and sales/marketing to shape the roadmap.
- Participate directly in customer discovery, feedback sessions, and product iteration.
- Partner with the Head of Product and GTM teams to support pilots, integrations, and customer-specific needs.
Operational Excellence
- Set up CI/CD, monitoring, observability, and devops practices.
- Ensure the platform is secure, compliant, and scalable as usage increases.
- Manage technical debt intentionally, balancing speed with long-term maintainability.
