Job summary

Mindlance is seeking a Technical Lead to guide multiple agile squads in delivering modern full-stack capabilities from user-facing applications to APIs and platform modernization. You will provide technical direction, review approaches, and drive scalable, secure, and maintainable engineering decisions from design to production.

You will collaborate with Product Owners, architecture, and stakeholders to align priorities, manage dependencies, and deliver business outcomes.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering or technology delivery experience with at least 2+ years in people management and leadership of high-performing teams.
• Demonstrated experience leading multiple agile squads and delivering complex initiatives across full-stack apps, APIs, microservices, platform modernization, integration services, and production enhancements with Java, Spring Boot, AWS, Angular or React, SQL, CI/CD, and automated testing.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or related technical discipline; advanced degree preferred.

Title: Technical Lead
Location: Full time on-site in McLean, VA
Duration: 6 months possible TTH
What you will be doing: ·

• Lead multiple agile squads responsible for delivering modern full-stack application capabilities, including user-facing applications, APIs, microservices, integration services, platform modernization, and production enhancements. Provide technical direction across squads by guiding solution design, reviewing implementation approaches, and helping teams make scalable, secure, resilient, and maintainable engineering decisions.
• Partner closely with Product Owners, architecture, business stakeholders, and cross functional technology teams to align priorities, manage dependencies, and deliver business outcomes.
• Drive the design and implementation of Java-based microservices, REST APIs, front end applications, and integration services using modern technologies such as Java, Spring Boot, AWS, Angular or React, SQL, relational databases, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks.
• Create proofs of concept, demos, and prototypes to evaluate emerging technologies, validate new ideas, and accelerate adoption of modern engineering patterns and platform capabilities.
• Establish and reinforce software engineering standards, including scalable design, code quality, automated testing, peer reviews, deployment discipline, application security, and operational readiness.
• Ensure solutions are designed and delivered with appropriate compliance, auditability, security, resiliency, accessibility, and production support considerations.
• Oversee engineering production support by strengthening incident triage, root-cause analysis, observability, recovery practices, and continuous improvement of application and platform reliability.
• Manage, mentor, and develop engineering talent through coaching, performance management, hiring, delegation, and succession planning.
• Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, continuous improvement, and accountability while identifying opportunities to improve delivery efficiency and engineering outcomes.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of related software engineering or technology delivery experience, including at least 2+ years of people management and leadership experience developing high performing engineering teams.
• Demonstrated experience leading multiple agile squads and delivering complex technology initiatives across full-stack applications, APIs, microservices, platform modernization, integration services, and production enhancements. Required hands-on or technical leadership experience with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices architecture, AWS, or cloud-native application development, Angular or React, SQL, relational databases, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks.
• Strong background in full-stack software engineering, application architecture, API design, enterprise integration patterns, application security, performance, resiliency, and delivery of scalable digital products for business and end-user needs.
• Experience establishing and applying software engineering standards, including scalable design, code quality, automated testing, peer reviews, deployment discipline, compliance standards, auditability, and production readiness. Proven ability to provide technical direction, evaluate solution options, guide architecture and implementation decisions, and create proofs of concept or demos to validate new ideas and emerging technologies.
• Experience managing engineering production support responsibilities, including incident triage, root-cause analysis, resiliency improvements, observability, and continuous improvement of application and platform reliability.
• Strong leadership skills, including hiring, coaching, mentoring, delegation, performance management, talent development, and succession planning.
• Ability to manage dependencies with vendors, Product Owners, architecture teams, business stakeholders, and internal engineering teams to deliver software solutions effectively.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience; advanced degree preferred.
