Description
  • The Technical Laboratory Assistant coordinates and performs clerical and technical tasks in the clinical laboratory, including specimen accessioning, processing, technical support functions, and inventory maintenance.
  • Load specimens on automated line, perform storage and retrieval, and inspect specimens for quality.
  • Answer pneumatic tube system and log specimens into the lab information system, ensuring proper labeling.
  • Distribute specimens within the laboratory, follow proper identification procedures, and perform clerical duties like registration, order entry, and filing.
  • Investigate and resolve order and specimen problems, understand specimen types and stability, and prepare specimen slides.
  • Manage lab supplies, prepare reagents, perform tests, calibrate analyzers, and conduct quality control.
  • Follow guidelines for test results, including critical values and triaging STAT results.
  • Set up specimen plates, dispose of biohazardous material, and ensure specimen quality.
What You Will Need
  • High school diploma or equivalent; hospital lab experience preferred.
  • Basic clerical skills, typing, medical terminology, and computer literacy.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs., CPR/BLS certification preferred.
  • Excellent customer service, punctuality, and attention to detail.
  • Successful completion of a 90-day probationary period.
