Job summary

Qualifications

  • Education: Associate’s degree preferred or high school diploma with health care experience.
  • Licenses/credentials: experience in a laboratory or healthcare setting 1–2 years preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic lab equipment and terminology; detail-oriented and accurate.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills; able to follow procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, label, and distribute clinical specimens (blood, urine, tissue).
  • Verify patient information and accession samples into LIS; prepare for testing.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment.
  • Follow procedures for specimen handling, storage, and disposal.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in the laboratory area.
  • Adhere to safety and quality standards including PPE and accreditation requirements.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff and healthcare providers to ensure timely processing.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by laboratory management.

Job Summary

Essential Functions
  • Receive, label, and distribute clinical laboratory specimens including blood, urine, and tissue samples.
  • Process specimens by verifying patient information, accessioning samples into the laboratory information system, and preparing samples for testing.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of laboratory supplies, reagents, and equipment.
  • Follow established procedures and protocols for specimen handling, storage, and disposal.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the laboratory area.
  • Adhere to safety and quality standards including use of personal protective equipment, proper disposal of hazardous materials, and adherence to laboratory accreditation requirements.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff and healthcare providers to ensure timely and accurate specimen processing.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by laboratory management.
Qualifications
  • Education Associate's Degree Related Field of Study preferred or High School Diploma or Equivalent required Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No

  • Knowledge of basic laboratory equipment and terminology.
